@HollyHobs, I'm a huge Beatles fan. When I was in college for my speech class; all my speeches were on The Beatles. Their, movies, music, impact on society, Paul is dead hoax etc. Glad to say I aced my class & the professor were always blown away by my research. Still, you keep showing me new things about the Beatles. Some things I'm like, oh yeah I remember that but A LOT of things I'm like, DAMN! I DIDN'T KNOW THAT. I absolutely love your channel & always look forward to the notifications for your new videos. Keep up the amazing job. Btw, I like your original music. It's really good.

@JamesMaharajOfficial
@JamesMaharajOfficial 7 жыл бұрын
Thank you man! I have at this point like 15 beatles books as reference and the internet has some really cool stuff but you have to be careful. Theres a ton of "hear say" about some things we don't know are true. Usually the best bet is to find interviews of them that back up the fact (which is really difficult). The Beatles Bible is a great place to start but I would definitely suggest video and audio interviews as they are harder to misinterpret.

Yeah, I would also recommend getting the full Beatles Anthology on DVD, in that 10 hour collection of the Beatles history from the day each Beatle was born right up to 1996, with the newer version of the 3 boxsets having updates in them. Also Beatle Books, have become a industry all of it's own, so you need to have rough idea of which ones to buy. For the music, ie; every song they ever wrote when it was recorded and the story behind it, I would recommend, " Revolution in the Head" by Ian McDonald. In the highly regarded British newspaper, The Guardian, the critic writes this little comment. " Beatle books are a Industry, this product pretty much closes down the Factory." Thankyou for giving us this great channel, Hob's...

I always had a theory about this song. I thought it was inspired by the socratic dialogues. Socrate used to use a dialogue technique where he asked short answers about philosophy to people making them interested in searching for the truth. Maybe a i red in to it a little too much. The line that made me think about it is "would you belive in a love at first sight" because it's a big question really but simplified in a short effective way...

I think a lot of Beatles' songs had deeper meanings that they wouldn't necessarily reveal to reporters. "What do you see when you when you turn out the lights ?" could easily be about - Does consciousness survive the dying process ? How much of the ego ("mine") survives. Sort of like the Zen question "Show me your face before your mother was born", or what is your true essence.

The HollyHobs: From "A Hard Day's Write," (pages 192-193): "This was then followed by 'are you afraid when you turn out the light?' but rephrased to 'What do you see when...'. Cynthia Lennon then came in and suggested 'I'm just fine,' as an answer, but John dismissed it saying that 'just' was either a filler or a meaningless word. Instead, he tried 'I know it's mine', eventually coming up with the more substantial 'I can't tell you, but I know it's mine.'" I guess both how you say Paul described it AND this can be true at the same time, but it seems a little contradictory. Not totally, just a little bit. What do you (or anyone) think of this, and of the book "A Hard Day's Write," in general? Keep up the great work! I love your videos and can totally appreciate all the work you've put into them! Well done! -Dan
