I think its pretty easy to predict what will go up, numbered cards of hall of famers. Its what went up in 2020, I couldnt see it not go up again if there is an increase in demand.

very tough to predict. Maybe the breaking aspect will skyrocket but most singles won't. Maybe high end will continue to climb but mid tier will continue to fall. Overall growth is good IMO but like you said, it's tough to predict in what sector and in what way. Have a great day, Rej!

Awesome, Sam. Same here. There was a big exhale. I can't say card prices will go up....maybe just the super high end or maybe niche sports will get more popular....but overall, it's hard to see the hobby getting smaller with so much upside potential.

great point, elee712! The top end has climbed a ton and this could only increase the values of high end...the question is....would true hobbyists really leave the hobby if they can't afford the top tier of cards? It's a good question. I would hope only a small % would but I don't know.

@@TheComebackCardInvestor I'm not sure either, I guess time will tell. Perhaps you're right in regards to the kids who are in it to just want to collect cards of their favorite players whether it's a base rookie or 3rd year card...but as you can see in videos of shows, these kids are hustlers now. They know what's good and what's not, and where the money is at. I probably stand in the middle where I'm a collector but I don't want these highly produced cards. I do want something of value and I tend to collect the better rookie cards of players, hoping it appreciates in value if they do well and not wanting it to lose value. The lower end stuff doesn't really interest me. At the same time, I can't buy a top luka rookie for my collection if I wanted one now. Because of that, you have to think a couple steps ahead and go for guys who others may not think of that has potential but that's not me since I'm not in the hobby to invest and flip. It's not really something anybody can control..and maybe I'm wrong and it'll be good to have all these new popular wealthy guys come in to help promote and grow but when you're seeing rookie cards of unproven Lamelo go to 6 figures and guys like jason dominguez who has not even stepped on the field go for half a mil, there's kind of an issue with that. Who knows, I could be in the minority but it can't be good as a whole for the hobby unless you are either super wealthy or already holding these iconic/high end cards from a collection you've already had for years. It has changed other things like how grading card companies work...where in theory, their function is to only grade cards based on the condition of the actual card whether it be a 1 dollar card or a 10,000 card. There should be no difference in how much they charge for the service.. There should be no such thing as "pop control" where they're essentially controlling the market...and no upcharge based on the value after the grade is issued. I mean...what is that? They provide a grading service. Why should it matter how much the card is worth? Obviously people will pay to get it graded to maximize the value of the card but what is that to these companies? The reason people are not more outraged of paying upcharge fees is because they did get a higher value than expected and will generally be ok with paying it but it shouldn't be that way. How about those guys that send in a card to get graded and they can't afford the upcharge fee? Then they're forced to sell it. Sure, they don't have to get it graded...but that decision shouldn't be necessary. I apologize, I probably went off on a tangent and went away from the actual topic.

Hey Trevor thanks for the thoughtful message with all of the context you laid out. The video was definitely out of excitement...and more of a reaction video than a thought through one. I still believe in the growth the hobby will see overall, however, I am biased and do want to see it as well. I'm not sure if I could ever get around my bias of wanting the hobby to grow. I also don't correlate big growth in the hobby to spikes in prices of singles...maybe the high end breaking will see the most growth...or soccer will skyrocket and other sports will grow slowly. I also assume my viewer is somewhat of a critical thinker (like yourself!) so I don't always remember to lay out all the points that perhaps a naive 16 year old would need to hear. I appreciate you! I think Drake does to be honest! In my day, it was Snoop and Dr Dre, but now, I think they're not close to as relevant as Drake....at least with 30 and under. This is not about individual card values. This is about overall growth…the amount of people interested in any facet of the hobby. Print runs/pop reports/changing taste will always affect cards…especially lower/mid tier ones.

There is definitely a chance this hobby doubles especially with Fanatics taking over. Card collecting never really had any advertising and if they start doing that it could definitely become reality.
