I'm glad to hear that she knows and cares about this horrible change in law in Poland and she understands how this has happened. Sharon is a great songwriter and you can tell that she does her research before she sits down to write new lyrics.

In response to Sharon's quote (copied at end) regarding the song "Don't Pray for Me", I TRULY ASK (for the SAKE OF HUMANITY) that there is a way to REPRESENT THIS SONG in a way that recognizes, for example, the damage being done by those who are making someone's prayer for them a heinous act worthy of being inprisoned for by a group of people more religious than the Christians they target; far more lethal. I actually hope you can do a redo, perhaps a duet, with someone who has an idea to add.. and make it even more incredible as a song. (Christians are a group of people whose practices involve weighing and considering multiple viewpoints. If you ever read the New Testament, the books written by or on behalf of the diciples, are a conversation between competing viewpoints. While I am too much a critical thinker to abide fallacy to attend a church who determines truth as if going back to a priest class, I do find they are far more open minded than the group who points to them). Not only do those that point to Christians JUSTIFY VIOLENCE in the name of their cause, they are more than happy to usher in laws, KNOWING the law would only apply when its the opposition (Christians et al), since they find AGREEMENT IN ECHO CHAMBERS that they are good and all actions are justified, even machiavellian, KNOWING the reasoning will be echoed in every news outlet, KNOWING they will virtue signal, and use CANCEL CULTURE to ENSURE they are seen as the victim, avoiding the MESSY BUSINESS of having to face who they are accusing, in an atmosphere of HONEST CONVERSATION AND DEBATE IN PUBLIC. Sharon's quote: “Don’t Pray For Me strives against forcing beliefs and fears on to others and bears witness to being acceptive of everyone’s own journey. It is an anthem about coming to terms with the fact that beliefs can be fluid, multiple or, frankly, different. The song is about allowing people to pursue their own destiny.” Sharon, or those who might read on her behalf, if you find this message, let it find you well. Within Temptation's music speaks to me at this juncture of my life like nothing else has.. and for the record, I AGREE. I'm in the choir even as I write all this. Have you ever seen the horror movie "Carrie"? I grew up in an environment near to that, though not as extreme, the heavy shame, and burning of anything sacraligious... and thus am drawn to bands who speak to me about questioning... but I worry about the timing of this, without some layering, in the face of CANCEL CULTURE. It may all come down to a world in which all I say is ALL "IN VAIN", but I have to TRY.

(for added context) Not that I think anyone who can act on it would see/read it, or anyone at all for that matter. If what I'm saying is seen as wrong politics, I can't help that, but either way, there's no expectation, just disappointed. I see Within Temptation's standing-up-to-the-man themes in their music as against those who are centralizing power, playing on the heartstrings of people who care about making the world a better place. The Christians that the woke point to would be narcissists in this day and age when critical thinking is a reality, and statistics are clear there's not that many narcissists out there. Most Christians had families and their grandkids they love, who explained things.. and worst case, Grandma tries to find a way to keep the morals and dump the ignorance. These are not the people who were used for the Southern Strategy back in the day. But the media doesn't speak to the average citizens, and instead, shine lights on people who are either stuck in the day and age critical thinking didn't exist, or got upset because their child was molested at a parent conference at school but they are framed as crazy christian loons; or one of the spiritual narcissists... The average Christian, not accounted for, is mad because they are misrepresented, and maligned as being what is being said about them, not proudly proclaiming it. Its NAZI to keep beliefs about a group who is misrepresented and has no path to representation in the media. While I agree with this song.. and have TOLD PEOPLE OFF for proselytizing me as I'm trying to go somewhere, and hey they deserve it if they can't take no for an answer.. but I don't think the Christian population at large should be demonized for it, nor do I think they deserve to be arrested by the FBI with guns blazing in their family home with children afoot either. This song doesn't suggest that. I understand that. But since this is happening, I think its irresponsible. And if they wrote it, not knowing how this group of people have been maligned, not only in America, but Canada, and even Ukraine. I do propose that a subject matter that points to a group, even if a personal narrative, not meaning to be virtue signalling, requires GREAT CARE and there's a GREAT RESPONSIBILITY to do an intense amount of research. Imagine the Jews in Nazi germany, and a popular song came about how the Jews are buggin. Not cool. Just not cool.

I do not think it's useful to put Christianity as a fundamentalist religion on a pedestal. I see great diversity under the umbrella of Christianity, including a lot of ordinary people who mean well but have have no tolerance for any free thinking or humanistic values. ALL forms of fundamentalist dogma have the potential to become bigoted and extreme, and in cases all over the world, This includes but is not limited to Christianity, which is no less prone to causing harm to people, their freedoms, and their autonomy than any other religion. There are a lot of Christians who see more than one narrow viewpoint. There are a lot who don’t. I try not to assume which are in the majority and where. Christians are not some special group without fault. Neither are any other religious groups. We are all just as human. I hear that your comments come from a place of personal experience, and I want to make space for that and honor that. Your experiences are legitimate, but please hold space for people who have experienced trauma and suffering because of Christianity too. I have been physically abused, have skirted homelessness, and have been publicly shamed and attacked under the name of Christianity. So, just as you gave to try to use your voice, so too do I. NOBODY should be made to suffer or endure traumatic experiences or life upheaval or harm in the name of religion, across the board. And even if it's just a dream, I dream of a world with enough space, acceptance, love, and peace for all of us to exist, no matter what we believe or what we have experienced. I don't need people to not believe the things that caused them to harm me and put my life at risk. I don't need them to be 'canceled.' I just need them not to try to wipe me and people like me from existence as if I'm a threat. I need people to respect my life and my humanity as much as I respect theirs. And I do. If I didn’t I’d be close minded too, and that would not benefit anyone.

Not feeling the new songs. Instead of emulating other artists' they should just focus on developing their own styles and vibes. Haven't really liked their music since they started making primarily pop rock/pop punk songs and power ballads under the guise of metal, but they're not really metal. In fact, I don't know why the band is called a metal band, when 95% of the time the guitars aren't remotely distorted enough for it to qualify as metal and most of the songs and vocal melodies are too light musically to be metal. Sharon's voice also leaves some to be desired. She can add some nice light Enya vibes to the songs but too often her voice sounds thin and scratchy, especially live. She has a generally good light voice but maybe it's just not for hard music, because it doesn't seem to have the depth or character to carry heavy songs. But more to the major issues, their big stage production budget may be eye-catching but it does not distract me enough from the some of the weakness of the live performance itself. I'll wait for the album to make a definite conclusion on it.

They are not trying to emulate other bands they have their own style! From the beginning they have always been a symphinic celtic style metal band, yes her voice is clear, so is Amy's and none of them are pop rock/punk. WT has cover from Bruno Mars, Lana del Rey to hardcore bands, Sharon made a feat in obe of my facorite Armi van Buuren album. I like the new sound Dont Pray for Me sounded on stage really great. I went because of Evanesxence (i knew WT but was not A fan) and now i fpubd myself listenning everysay to their newest albums . Another thing that bands can learn from WT is their fan engagement, while Evanescence cancelled the meet and greet WT kept it on and i was so jealeous seeing how the band share everythibg with them, they even have a freaking App to keep up with the tour

@@grossartus They most definitely are and always have been following trends and whatever they like that other artists are doing, and it also usually ends up being pop trends. They themselves have referenced this several times over the years, and in this very video Sharon alludes to that. They clearly love pop trends as they've covered many pop artists too. I've been a listener since the beginning, a casual fan only because there's little of their music I generally find authentic or different to everything else out there in metal. Their music often is trite amongst the plethora of great metal music there is, although they have had some cool moments in their discography. Also, I don't know where in my comment I mentioned Evanescence for you to attempt to deflect from WT's problems, but they're not a band I care about or listen to (not that I'm dissing them I just know very little about them and probably only heard a couple of songs), and you sound like you have some gripe about that band that I frankly couldn't care less about - my comment is about WT, whom the video is on, focus. I don't care if WT does meet and greets or whether they hug fans and smile at them, idk wtf that has to do with the issues I raised about the band. One of the problems is that they've often relied on promotional schticks, big stage spectacle budget, etc, and hide under a comfortable "metal" (but not really) cloud to distract from the subpar things I mentioned. People lump them in with the likes of Nightwish, among the popular bands in the genre, but Nightwish are leagues above them even if I don't like all their music.
