I've been homeschooling for over 20 years. (CM for appx 5-6 of those years.) I have found that even though I KNOW we don't have to do/read/accomplish everything, I still battle with those nagging things. The pressure we put on ourselves as homeschool moms is real, and I think that we still tend to feel like we can't just rest in the learning, even when we are utilizing a solid curriculum, good resources, and wonderful, living books I, for one, need to pray and trust the Lord in order to keep the balance and peace between times to linger and times to press on. Thank you so much for sharing this curriculum. I had never heard of it, but I took a look at it and it does look extremely well thought-out. I am considering purchasing this for my family for our upcoming school year. I can't think of a better investment than the one that blesses our families with peace. If it's a good resource, I am definitely going to recommend it to others!!

We are using the Early America Guide for my son’s first grade year. It is simply laid out and has a rich booklist. I love the incorporation of living picture books every week for the history topic, along with the spine choice. Definitely would recommend.

This looks AMAZING!! I’ve never heard of Without Doors before and this is exactly what I was hoping to put together for this year. This will be our 10th year of homeschooling but this past school year was our first year diving into the CM philosophy. I think this is going to work perfectly for us! Thanks for sharing!

I think it’s good for older students, too :) her booklists are rich, but I would add a few more subjects like I mentioned in my comment above. I also think it’s great for those who desire to create their own plans, but don’t feel fully confident in doing it. These plans can be a spring board, while adding or removing what feels right for your family. You wouldn’t want to do this with plans that are $100+ 😆 but this is so reasonably priced.

@@Micasa22 yes I agree! It’s definitely rich and flexible enough to include older students.

I'm eager to see the Canada list as well! We've been with CMEC and I love them, but the Canada options are very limited. I feel the same as you with not being able to keep up with the riches. We love doing them but it's hard to do them all at once and I end up feeling a bit like a failure when we constantly have things falling by the wayside.

Same here! There are certain subjects I won’t compromise on, while a few others tend to fall by the wayside! I love the idea of rotating through them instead! 😊 I will definitely share about the Canadian cycle when I get a copy!

Thank you! I have the modern America on my wishlist, I kind of liked that it was so minimal so i could add several things for individual students. I am definitely one of those busy moms who wants to do CM but it's hard!

What I like about guides like this is that it gives you a spine (like you mentioned) to work from. It’s inexpensive so you don’t feel completely bound by it. We will be adding science, math, grammar, citizenship, foreign language, solfa, more literature, and use our own bible plans. She has more book lists in the curriculum.

Do the booklists include more challenging books for older ages? My oldest is turning 13 in the fall and it looks a bit too easy for her. But I'm thinking it might work to purchase and then add in more challenging books from AO.
@littlebitsofbliss
@littlebitsofbliss 20 күн бұрын
@@LionWolverine they have separate book lists for different grade ranges, up to grade 8. I would say some of the books may be slightly less challenging, but the content is still great! That’s a great idea to supplement with AO if needed!

Hello, thank you so much for sharing this. I had never heard of this company. We are in the UK, and I have yet to find a Charlotte Mason curriculum that covers UK history. I'm excited to give this a try 😊
