Poppins and I head to Delaware, Michigan near Copper Harbor in the Keweenaw Peninsula. The Upper Peninsula of Michigan gets a lot of snow.
We found an off grid cabin to rent not far off the road. A short 1 mile hike in and seclusion surrounds you.
Join us as we spend a few days in solitude at the Copper Cabin.

Pro tip from a 100% solar powered home owner living in northern Idaho where we get a lot of snow. Put your solar panels on a top of pole mount in the yard set at 65° then snow doesn't stick or cover your panels. 40 years living solar powered only teaches you things

I've driven in the UP during snowstorm conditions in the middle of the night. I couldn't see the road, but I could make out the tree line and I just stayed in the middle. I passed three cars the entire night once I got north of Mackinac until I got to Marquette. The UP is truly a beautiful and mostly isolated place.

Almost no snow during the 2023-24 winter. I grew up in Laurium and my daughter and her family live off grid a few miles south west of Delaware as the crow flies. She saw a wolf when XC skiing last week. There were 2 sets of tracks.

Reminds me of when i was young. My parents had a cabin in Northern Michigan. In the winter, we would park the car about 3/4 mile away from the cabin and hike to the cabin to get the toboggan. Then it was back to the car, load up the toboggan, and haul all our stuff to the cabin. Good Times.
