Norway's Eurovision 2019 act Keiino - that's Tom Hugo, Alexandra Rotan and Fred Buljo - have a little interview with us ahead of the London Eurovision Party 2019. We discuss "Spirit in the Sky", The Sámi people and how the band was formed.

OMG Listening to Alexandra say what people said about her voice. She is extraordinary. IMO she has the best female voice in the competition this year. I love this group so much. :).

This is a fine group. Their song grew in me and I'd say they are in my top 5. I have to admit I never knew about Sámi and Yoik, but now I do, thanks to Keiino. To me, this is what Eurovision is all about :)

@@kylebrown5811 well at least they won the televoting by people, and the ESC is for the people, professional jury should be deleted in the upcoming years when it comes to voting, or at least jury 25% and the people votes 75% procent

I hate that someone told Alexandra she is not extraordinary! From the first moment I saw her singing I loved her ! So charismatic and talented ! And I also love Tom ! Such a talented man ! Fred also seems really nice and I love niche parts of northern culture gets represented ! So glad we got this mix at Eurovision

I am a fan of many Norwegian artists + bands esp A-ha-I'm sure they are on of your fav as well Linda? Have you been to the UK? I'm from England-Kent :-)

@@mikekaraoke I have some Norwegian favourites, but at the moment I listen to other music. I have been to UK once, last October, to Goathland (AKA Aidensfield). I must go back there once to live and experience more from the Heartbeat country! I love the music from Heartbeat so I listen to it a whole a lot! I love the 60s music, and the British is best there, I think. From the Norwegian artists you have Elisabeth Andreassen (she is Norwegian, but moved to Sweden when she was around 7) Hanne Krogh, some dance bands too, I have a lot. Have you been to Norway, then?

@@lindakristinekjlibraten757 Ah yes that is a lovely part of North Yorkshire been there a few times, + also been on documentaries etc over the years Yea I used to love watching Heartbeat on a Sunday evening unless I was out and recorded it on VHS + then later on not on VHS lol Yea I heard she was born in Sweden in Gothenburg while her folks were on holiday there and she moved there when she was 7-Hanne Krogh has been around since the 70's hasn't she? Other Norwegian artists/bands I like are Dollie de Luxe, Sigrid, M2M, Ida Maria etc I have indeed been to Norway may times over the years since a small kid in the 80's-We first went when I was 18 months to Lillehammer but don't obviously remember that-But do remember the 2nd time we went when I was 3 + half in winter of 84 to Oslo Other parts of Norway I have been to are: Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Tromsø, etc Really like your Theme Parks like: Tusenfryd, Hunderfossen Familiepark, Kongeparken, etc :-)

@@mikekaraoke Yes Hanne Krogh has been an artist since 1971, she was 15..... you have been to Stavanger? That's my neighbour town! Heartbeat went on Saturday evenings, and the repeats in the week days. I have watched it so many times now for years and years. I'm impressed over how many places you have been to here in my country, more than I have been to! Dollie De Luxe have broken up, but they are still friends. Sometimes they perform as Adrian and Bjørnov. Elisabeth Andreassen is born at Sunnmøre in the North West of Norway, I think it's Sykkylven, and I must say that Aidensfield is a bit closer to Stavanger than Sykkylven is Gothenburg. In fact she was born Andreassen, but when they moved to Gothenburg her father «adopted» the Swedish version of the name, Andressaon. She later married the now late Tor Andreassen, and took his name which is also her maiden name. People use to say that she is Swedish, but she replies: no I am Norwegian. Ok, they say, well half Swedish, but she replies: 100% Norwegian!!

@@lindakristinekjlibraten757 I have indeed been to the town of Stavanger-Very small world indeed :-) Last time I went there went to: The Norwegian Petroleum Museum, Stavanger: Konserthus, Rogaland Art Museum, etc You should def vist some othr parts of the UK as well, I mean it is common knowledge that you Norwegians, Swedes, Dutch, Danish, Finns, etc learn English at the ages of 3/4 What agedid you learn English?

Kyle, I’m also from the UK and voted for the first time in my life of Eurovision because of this song. It should have won but it actually did with the public. 12 Points from the UK!! It’s opened up a new music style for me as well.

The "law" against Joiking amongst some Sami, is that the Joik was connected to the old Shamanism practiced by the Sami before they became Chrstians, so some of them think of the Joik as being "talk of the Devil".

In past countries took very extreme cutthroat measures in integrating the indigenuous minorities... It was either accept our faith, learn our language, adopt our ways of life or be presecuted.. So sad 😞
