Anyone who plays PvP can tell you that right now, it's a bit of a mess. There are three schools that are just insane right now, and it's tough for anyone playing any other school to stay afloat. Best case scenario, the developers nerf some of the things that make these three schools so ridiculously overpowered, at least in comparison to the others, at some point soon. Potentially when they do the arc 2 spellements, which, if they stay on schedule, will come out in the Spring Update this year.

Imagine a meta where every school was competitive. Hasn’t been like that in 3-4 years

not all of them but i'm assuming the ones with egos are the one's with the highest authority level. I think the game would drastically improve if they were more receptive to player opinion and constructive criticism. It's an undeniable pattern that even with the youtubers who became developers their time for actually playing the game has been cutdown to the point they can't be reliable with their judgement of new implementations

I don't even think we should be aiming to have matchup advantages, like why not make every school viable based off of identity but they are all relatively equal?

nice video just one small thing the soft cap on res only counts when an opponent hits you trough a shield an open hit will still be into the 80 res but I still agree that death has just way better stats than ice and also is favoured against ice in the matchup

Compare handsome formori to Catalan. Ice has been getting bad spells and small nerfs ever since 2020.

Balance for sure, in the right hands they're straight up unstoppable but if they leave themselves open, you can combo them down

What card does balance get that counters weaknesses? Because eye of vigilance is extraordinarily bad at it

Idk against myth or death if you deck fail once you just lose from my experience. They have way more and stronger buffs, way more consistent gambits (for example balance jinn is shut down if they have EITHER shield or trap counter and everyone has righting the scales anyway), and death at least blows mock out of the water with grim reader. I admit hydra burn and supernova are problematic, but 6 good burns will genuinely do the same damage as one myth gambit with one buff let alone with shrike and stacking and all that. Imo balance’s utility just doesn’t synergize with the rest of its kit as well as these schools. Ofc im not arguing it aint top 3 I see the bloody leaderboard 💀

Also while im ranting, and thinking about how consistent drawing is important for balance. Why does no one talk about how scuffed it is that in this pvp game, you cannot see your hand, players’ health or hanging effects while spell animations are happening. When you spectate a match you can see hanging effects and health at all times, so why cant the players? If I play on my laptop which runs slower, I lose twice as many games because I dont have time to discard and cycle my side deck on their turn, which means I dont get the option to discard that draw if it was bad and fish for a second card on my turn. Why on earth am I under time pressure to get draws off when it’s my opponents clock running down and mine is stopped?
