This isn't on WotC. This is Beadle and Grimm's, a company owned by actor Matthew Lillard and his DnD buddies that make high end gaming accessories, initially for DnD. This is their promo image that was sent to distributors who in turn forwarded it to retailers for preorders.

The problem is that there's pressure to keep up with all these products because each set produces new outrageously strong cards. If you don't buy them, you'll rapidly fall behind the people who do. And if you don't even pay attention to the cards of each set, you'll frequently be blindsided in games because you have no way of predicting what cards your opponents can play.

It could be an ability: "create a copy of CARDNAME but it's named Warren Warleader [and it's not legendary]". Since copies keep the mana cost of the cards they are a copy of it makes sense to put it as a remainder text after keeping the top of the token clear for aesthetic purposes

It could work kind of like morph, but for double sided tokens, so you could use make offspring to create a 0/1 rabbit kit token (or equivalent baby/egg creature type for other parent creature types), then later flip it over for its mana cost.

I think the mana cost being in reminder text is just there for newer players and the fact that the tokens don't have a traditional color frame.

Offspring may likely be a mechanic like Meld from Eldritch Moon, where 2 creatures come together to make 1, but instead of flipping the 2 cards for the art and text, the 2 creatures might need to be on the battlefield and one has an activated ability (the mana cost of the token) and when the condition is met and costs paid, it makes the token. I would also guess that this could only be activiated once per pair, but that os only speculation, based on what I am looking at here and the name of the mechanic.

I am happy to have-and use-the contents from my Wilds of Eldraine token product! The tin looks nice on my shelf. That said, it is mostly specific to the set so aside caramel dice you are better off with a food deck for the gingerbread tokens and/or a Syr Ginger deck for the life counter, and a deck or two that uses metal role tokens.

With the casting cost on the token, it makes me think it's part of a "when this spell is cast, copy it except it doesn't have this ability. You may cast the copy this turn. If the copied spell is a permanent, it becomes a token" type effect.

Tokens having a mana cost affects lots of things and only very rarely have they produced any Tokens that have or can have mana cost.

Maybe it's like meld, but instead of joining two creatures to turn into a larger one. You take 2 creatures (probably specific legendaries) and "meld" them to create a smaller creature hence the mana cost on the token

In reference to the remark about the b&g phyrexian deckbox being laughably poor quality: i cant speak to the quality of it as i didnt buy it, BUT, i did buy the neon dynasty LED playmat, and while it wasnt what i expected (the playmat has to be plugged in to power the led effect, rather than having a battery inside the power module that you then only plug in to recharge), it is definitely a quality playmat and based on that i would be inclined to trust the quality of their other products. The art is gorgeous and has not faded even after having it for over a year and using only that playmat for my weekly magic hangout.

I’m calling it: they’re going to make a new rule for offspring tokens that allow them to be in different zones. You’ll get this token as an ETB trigger and it will be created in your hand or deck (hence the casting cost). It’ll be similar to MTGA’s conjure mechanic.

As someone who bought the previous token set, and have bought several B&G products, they are almost universally high quality products. Packaging can sometimes be average-low quality but the internals are very well produced. I don't see myself playing offspring so I don't plan to partake on this one, but if you want to play offspring, you can buy confidently that you will get a durable and quality product.

I initially liked the appeal of bloomburrow, a plane without anthropomorphic races. It would be a change of pace of the constant "dnd" fantasy formula (for example karlov manor: WHY there are so many detectives? I get the background: murders galore spread across the city because of trostani, but a single detective can cover more than just one case...it feels like there are more detectives than things to investigate [also it would be a cool opportunity to print some legendary nephilims: so many people sooping around would eventually stumble on forgotten buried things related to the past of the city]). But since the leaks it's just the same configuration of a fantasy trope, but with critters instead. This could be done on eldraine or lorwyn...

They're so adorable and I'm conflicted on how I feel about that. The art is awesome, without a doubt, but cute isn't my thing. That I'm not sure I'll be able to read the cards without reading them as if I was reading a story to a child. Too many releases in the run of a year for anybody that has other hobbies, a family and wants to collect. I can afford to buy it all but I'm not going to. *Enter Star Wars Unlimited*. Great! I've always loved star wars, easier pill to swallow to collect 100% of the cards, FFGs has addressed their past mistakes proactively, plans on 3 sets a year (for a cheaper price than the other cardstock with paint on it). My money goes to them for now.

B&G has been disappointing with their Phyrexian set. Over $200 for a plastic box, a single card, and some sleeves/die. Might be an accusation here, but their art looks AI-generated with this new release.
