I was going to recommend that you look at ramp truck's here in the States for ideas, but then you built a modified version. Looks good!!!

Fantastic. So good to see the ramps slide under the tray with no work required. Looking forward to the camper build.

Few tips to make your life more bearable. It's not going to be easy but I'd add something to hold the front of the ramps otherwise they will rattle and drive you insane. I did a similar thing with my ramps and I ran a strip of 2mm steel with rubber ute mat glued on at a 15 degree angle up the front under the tray. It was squishy enough that I could force the ramps in hard when I dropped the pin through and they didn't rattle. Same with those drop in wheel chocks. They will cause a huge racket when you hit a bump. Use a can of spray on bed liner of glue marine carpet to them so it holds them firm. Last, probably not needed, but where you've braced off the tie rails may need its own brace. Tie rails are made for perpendicular strength, not lateral. I'd hate to see them bend and the strut slip off if you get rear ended or hit one of the Sydney potholes. Just continue the angle back into a tray member. Cheap insurance. Always love your ingenuity. Keep it up.

My scaffold planks have two strips of rubber built into them that run their full length. Stopping any annoying rattles will be addressed at the end of the build. I've got enough to worry about atm!

Good idea on the extension. I’d run some 100 x 100 box with some pins to prevent losing the car. Even with the two bracing strips, a car will bend those prevent-car-losing panels

Well done. I’m sure it took a lot longer to make these than what it looks in the video. Cutting all this steel and welding takes a while. Nice bugger welds too :)

I am the world's second worst welder, having made one step up! You can't be great at everything. It may be ugly at times, but nothing breaks. I advise against you joining the long list of experts who've tried to assist me.

@@BillsBuildandRace Bill I am not going to be one of these guys who oppose people going out there and get stuff done, as I my self are more of a thinker than doer, I personally love how you break potentially complicated operations into simple solutions, which incidentally is why I have watched most of your videos, only that your welds although probably better then what I would do as I have not picked up welder in anger for approx. 20 years, are not very photogenic and my career as a Mechanical Designer depends on my critical eye.

Elegant solution. My only niggle is the stay that goes to the round bar. Looks to me like it would be taking a fair chunk of the load. Is it meatier than it looks?

Yes, as a main tie off bar for strapping, etc. it is solid. However my car's rear wheels will actually sit on the original tray of this truck. That extension will only have the weight of my car on it when loading/unloading. My tray still needs to go back to 4m so the car's bodywork overhang off the tray is not too far, and going to the max (in my case), tray length of 4m allows for longer cars if ever required.

Just one quick point Bill, in the video it appears that the extensions block the visibility of the tail lights. In QLD this would cause the vehicle to be deemed unroadworthy. Perhaps additional lights would be an idea.
