Same , even at 100% volume I have to get close to hear. An increase of 25% would be about perfect

Hi Paul. As I've said, It's difficult to find the perfect boat. I've been looking for a boat 40' - 45'. It must come with low hours, "AND" a beautiful woman 40-45 years old, she must be able to drive and maintain the boat, and must be rich. If she's not rich, that's a deal breaker in this market. So, I continue looking for that perfect boat now. 🙂🙂🙂

I am waiting on my survey. I contacted these guys and got great information. I am looking at a 30 year old boat. I am going to follow their advise for sure. I don't want to pay twice for a boat.

Thanks for this series, guys! Can you please explain to us novices a little more about surveys? If I am understanding right, there is a shorter "insurance" survey and an in-depth "purchase" survey...and hopefully the expensive one will satisfy the insurance person. Speaking of expensive, how much is a survey? Is it by-the-foot? Of course it's going to be a regional price with South Florida being very pricey, but is there a general formula we should calculate in? Also, when looking at these 40 year old boats please give us some hints based on your experiences for what stuff costs! As I walk through a boat and notice the bad stuff, it would be very helpful to have a rough menu in my head of the general costs of normal items that go bad. Cloudy Isinglass, a water maker, a decent electronics package, a genset (dollars per KW?), a bottom job per foot, etc. These things might help a prospective buyer make a better decision or a better offer. Yeah, it's just ballpark numbers and they might be waaaay over, but depending on where you live it could save us from falling for the "hole in the water" meme thing. Lastly, INSURANCE!!!! I am unable to find anyone that will write the 1979 boat I'm currently interested in...and if they will, I can't even get a ballpark figure without a survey and a super-long form filled out. I don't know if I'm looking at $1500/year or $10,000/year. Any help on an insurance person or company that you could recommend?

I agree with the "use it or lose it". The GB I bought two years ago sat at the end of her mooring lines for about 10 years. Neglect and disuse definitely took it's toll. It's been a whole lot of work and money to refurbish it. Fortunately, I've been able to do 90% of the work myself.

I use to be very involved with show horses so I still check on the market once in a while since this is an entertainment purchase. Yes, people are very serious about their horses, but it still pleasure for most people. Today I checked a Facebook page that I follow and all three horses were still for sale from last week. Even last month those horses would have been gone in a day or two, now they are sitting at lower prices. I cannot even picture buying an over priced fixer upper boat. That would be scary.

I follow the Aqua Cultured channel because I'm interested in Defever 44's. The biggest problem that I hear about older Defevers is rusted out fuel tanks. To replace those fuel tanks the engines have to come out first unless you use a series of smaller tanks linked together.

Another great video! I am surprised to hear about the condition of the Defever. I have watched that channel previously.

Thank you guys - Commence good maintenance and upgrades as soon as you take delivery of any new boat ~ that’s how you get your money back in return - the least maintenance the less return - as far as an old boat is concerned take a long hard look and inspect everything - Then take a long hard look into your wallet 😂 - Love your work guys stay well - Cheers

I am curious your thought if that is why C-Dory seem to hold their prices since they are such a simple boat that in a small way ticks all the boxes. A day boat, weekender and if you do not mind small spaces capable of long trips like the great loop.

Yep some of these sellers think there a fool on ever corner, like how you guys put reality in these boats and what has to be done to motor these boats.

I love Defever but I’m not paying 200k for anything not perfect. To me a ton of boats listed are 75k boats not 150,120, or even the bold 200k first a guy needs cash can’t get loan on ancient boats. People will wake up or pay for add space for years. Everything has life spans and people think they last forever. My survey guy Captain Frank Linear retired Coast Guard check him out on KZfaq Captain Frank’s Sea Chest of Horrors but he is going to find anything wrong with the boat especially safety stuff that folks overlook.
