Here is one of our veteran drivers Arturo Gonzalez driving the very first electric BYD Amrep bought and received by the Irvine yard! I had been trying to film this truck on route for a while, but it struggled with various issues like the battery not charging, the arm breaking down, etc. but finally I was able to catch it finishing up recycle throughout 2 different afternoons. Truck like this one are still a massive work in progress and will take time to get adjusted and learned by the drivers but for now it seems to be holding up pretty decently! The cab is very spacious, like a cockpit and has an interactive dashboard and tablet containing all the specific details and specifications of the truck which is very helpful for addressing any issues relating to the battery or to the truck itself. With all that being said, big thank you goes out to Arturo for letting me film and have a look at this interesting piece of modern refuse equipment! Hope you enjoy the video!
