When this broadcast aired I was 9 years old, in the 4th grade, and living up in Glencoe with my mom. A big part of me wishes I could go back to this time.

I was in the 1st grade and asleep since it was a Sunday night and my bedtime was 8 PM on school nights...I wish I could go back to these times too, I think about them all of the time and just how better Chicago and Illinois were back then and throughout the 1990s.

I was 8 years old when this first broadcast, and wasn’t allowed to stay up to watch the 10pm news. I wish I could go back in time, to experience this again!⌛️

I take it you went to New Trier? I lived in Wilmette. Remember hearing about the Laurie Dann school shooting? In Winnetka, I believe.

2 and a half weeks later, The Today Show would be broadcasting from the NBC Tower to celebrate it's launch but they were doing 5 hours of coverage lasting til lunchtime on the San Francisco Earthquake. Bryant, Jane and Deborah were on hand for the whole 5 hour broadcast and stayed at the NBC Tower to bring live coverage.

Great to see this in full. BTW, the air date was October 1, 1989 based on the Cubs' season finale in Mark's highlights.

I think "The Jerry Springer Show" is what made NBC Tower such an iconic building.

And it was during that time that Jerry Springer himself wanted to do commentaries for their newscasts which did not please both Ron and Carol who parted ways with the station. Ron moving to WLS, Carol moving to WBBM
