WNBA Refs Called Out After Controversial Angel Reese Play
Chicago Sky star Angel Reese is a tremendous player. That isn't preventing her game from being scrutinized.
One Reese highlight has WNBA fans' attention. The talented player was seen picking up her dribble and traveling before starting to dribble again. It has caused a comical reaction on social media.
The play sees Reese start to dribble, then grab the ball with two hands before dribbling again. After reestablishing, she then passes the ball from her left hand to her right and starts dribbling again.
The video of Reese's double dribble was posted with a caption, "Yo, (WNBA) refs, we gotta talk."
One fan calls the play a "double-double dribble." Another jokingly suggests that the ESPN's NBA broadcast would call it a "gorgeous step-through."
The commentary continued, with one fan joking about one of Angel Reese's past complaints. The Sky forward has said of Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark that some players get special treatment from referees.
One account used her commentary to weigh in on the situation, posting, "Some people just have a special whistle I guess."
Reese certainly got away with carrying the ball twice on the play. Her Chicago Sky will next take the court Sunday against the Indiana Fever.
