The song was written by Izzy Stradlin (the guy in newsboy hat and sunglasses). He's like the most underrated band member, altough he should be regarded as 3rd the most important member in band's history. He helped get the band together and wrote most of the songs.

All of us that knows GNR, know what Izzy Stradlin meant for the band. Main Song writer, cool rythm guitar player. Izzy is product of keith Richard and ronnie wood. So no one can say thaT izzy is underrated. Basiclly when izzy left the band, GNR, from creative point of view lost big time.

The sign of a really great rock band is that they are just as good when they slow it right down into ballads, Guns N Roses are a perfect example, Axl sounds just as great singing this as he does the really rocky stuff

See, I prefer the softer sounding Axl. The band is very talented, obviously. But my biggest complaint about them is Axl's voice. It's too nasally and screamy during hard songs. And in contrast to what Jordan said, I don't think he has a very big range. If you wanna talk range, you'd have to go with singers like Robert Plant, Ann Wilson, and Freddie Mercury.

Izzy Stradlin is the rhythm guitarist childhood friend of Axl’s. He was a huge part of the songwriting up until he left the band, he also sung a few songs on the “Use Your iIlusion” album’s. He moved to LA from Indiana before Axl did. He later left the band because he didn’t like how huge GNR had gotten along with Axl’s antics. After he left the band he recorded his own records, heavily influenced by the Stones and The Faces. His song “Shuffle it All” is very much worth checking out.😊💥

Axl founded the band. Had high profile relationships with his long time love who he wrote Sweet Child of Mine about. And a model who broke his heart and he went nuts after both his ex's sued him for abuse. Drummer Steven Adler was fired from the band and he sued them. He has his own band called Adler's Appetite. The other guitarist is Izzy Stradlin, Axl childhood friend. He left the band because of Axl's antics. Being late for shows and all the nonsense that goes on within and around the band. Slash and Axl could not get along and had musical differences. He quit the band and formed several new bands with bassist Duff Mckagan who is cool AF!. They all made it back together for a GNR reunion without Steven and Izzy. Slash is also still touring with his own band with Myles Kennedy as the singer. Long live the Slasher! Love him!

GN'R was a new creation from the remnants of L.A. Guns at the time (I think they reformed separately later with different guys) and Hollywood Rose. Axl Rose - Vocals Slash - Lead Guitar Izzy Stradlin - Rhythm Guitar Duff McKagan - Bass Steven Adler- Drums & Percussion Steven Adler was fired from the band in 1990 due to his then-heavy heroin addiction getting in the way of his ability to perform in the studio. He was only able to complete drum tracks for the song “Civil War,” which was included on Use Your Illusion II (the blue album cover). All other drum tracks on Use Your Illusion I and Use Your Illusion II (both 1991, released the same day) were made by Matt Sorum, who officially joined the band as drummer shortly after Adler’s termination. Adler later suffered a stroke related to his heavy drug use but recovered (mostly; his speech is still affected by stroke) and today is still semi-active and has appeared occasionally with GNR onstage. He’s still able to play drums pretty much the same way he always did. Keyboard player Dizzy Reed also joined the band in 1990 and remains with the band today. When Izzy Stradlin left the band mid-tour in 1991, guitarist Gilby Clarke replaced him on tour. Clarke was with the band until 1994 and appeared on the cover album “The Spaghetti Incident?.” For other band member information both before the band’s 1986 signing to a recording contract, and after their 1994 hiatus, see the Wikipedia page for the band. You might also want to read some of the biographies written about them. They have had a very complicated, colorful, and tempestuous history since they first formed in 1985.

If Amber hasn’t done November Rain, you 2 should do the trilogy: Don’t Cry, November Rain and Estrange. Estranged is probably my favorite of the 3 songs. Thank you for doing Patience. I think because you have said that you are used to listening to Rap music more, that you are used to artists that are just more one dimension when it comes to their style of singing. In my opinion most other genre's of music and especially the music from decades past like the 80s and 90's, you will find that a band such as Guns and Rosees doesn't just sing fast rock songs. They all sing fast songs, love ballads, power anthems, and inspirational songs. None of them only sing one kind of song. I keep hearing you be surprised when an artist that sings a hard rock song one minute, sings a soft love song the next. That's common. You're missing out if you are closed minded to the fact that these artists can be versatile. Oh and don't ask everyone to drop down info like the bands names...look it up and learn about the bands and artists that you are listening too and reviewing. It's only respectful to know who they are if you are going to be talking about them.

Both Axl's voice & Slash's 2 guitar solos really kill it in this one. The piano & drums are absolutely phenomenal.
