For me the best detail of this episode is how Dipper only realized that that Wendy wasn't real because she winked at him the same way the Shape Shifter in the Bunker episode did when he was pretending to be Wendy.

I have a friend who, despite being a 50 year old male, is very Mable. He’s bubbly, ridiculously positive, etc. And like Mable he can be incredibly selfish. But it’s not that he doesn’t care, he just gets fixated on things to the exclusion of all else. If he notices his friends, particularly if they need help, he’s there 100%!

Oh, Elijah is definitely going to have lots of thoughts about Mabel in this episode. Edit: Huh, she was actually pretty understanding. I am surprised.

More spoiler-free things! (though not much more to spoil anymore) 1. The cat-judge is voiced by Jon Stewart. Hw was a fan of the show and finally got room in his schedule near the end. Alex Hirsch always wanted him in the show somewhere. 2. There is a deleted scene where Dipper and Dippy-fresh interact where Dippy-fresh would say "Dude, your hat is on backwards" before actually flipping it backwards, only for Dipper to respond, "Your HEAD is on backwards" and ACTUALLY BREAKS HIS FREAKING NECK OMG. For Dipper's door the basic idea early on was that it would show him going on many adventures with Ford, then seeing an older Mabel in high school without him and seeing the negative side of staying in GF. It was cut due to being too long and due to them deciding that the bubble couldn't show the bad side of getting what he desired, hence the fake Wendy instead. If you'd like to learn more then check out the official commentary track for this episode. Speaking of the fake Wendy, the reason Dipper was able to tell is because she winked, a callback to Into the Bunker where the Shapeshifter winking instead of zipping the lips allowed Dipper to tell the fake and real apart.

I found Mabel’s fears of the future very relatable. However, I also know that change is inevitable, and the best you can do is try your best to adapt to it. Only one more episode after this. I hope you’re ready.

And you get to the other reason people hate Mabel in the final few episodes of the show. And again, I trust that you don’t hate her as much for it even if it might bother you. But I also want to explain why it doesn’t really bother me. Dipper may have made sacrifices for Mabel too often throughout the show and Mabel may have barely returned the favor, but if you ask me, that lack of balance is the only issue I see with it. Dipper’s sacrifices were still worth making and he didn’t have that big of losses anyway. And Mabel still had moments where she came through for him even if it probably didn’t happen as often as it should have. A key difference between the two is that Mabel is afraid of growing up while Dipper tries to grow up too fast and I think both of them fully realize those flaws of theirs here. Bill played into Mabel’s fear of change and growing up by imprisoning her in the bubble, but she overcame it and agreed to leave with Dipper to face their unknown future together. She was even willing to let him choose to become Ford’s apprentice even if it meant they’d be separated which shows that she is willing to mature and accept change. As for Dipper, one could argue that him giving up the apprenticeship to go home with Mabel is just him trying to make her happy at the cost of his own happiness again. But I believe he would genuinely rather choose to grow up with her over it. He realized that he was trying too hard to grow up and shouldn’t rush it and he can still become Ford’s successor when he’s older. Overall, both of their character arcs regarding their relationship were completed in this penultimate episode. Maybe it could’ve been handled better in some ways, but it can still be seen as good enough.

I agree with your statement that Bill stacking the petrified people into a throne is dark, but you can't deny that it was a pretty cool villain move.

Someone could correct me if I’m wrong, but I’ve heard Disney+ supposedly separated the normal 1 hour finale (the full Part 3) into two half hour episodes (Part 3 and 4), which I don’t fully understand nor commend. The entirety of Weirdmageddon was effectively a movie event in of itself before cable services even merged all the episodes into 2 hours, and even when separated, Part 3 being typically one full hour still felt more eventful (at least to me). Thankfully, since Elijah confirmed she has one left, this reassures me that she’ll see everything unfold in one sitting.

See here’s where I think we might get a final Mabel rant. Because while her handing over the portal is at least 50% understandable….Dippy Fresh was pretty messed up.

I think the episode might have benefited from making it clear to the audience that Dipper changed his mind about being Ford's apprentice, because it kinda looks like he's doing it for the sake of convincing Mabel, but that wasn't the point.

I really liked the concept of what happens in the bubble it would definitely be a very tempting world that would be hard to leave. I loved the horror elements that happened in this episode it was really creepy especially the things that happened in the bubble. I was such a mess when part 3 was released and concluded.

I think Dipper did really want to be Ford's apprentice, but he realized that it wasn't the best option for him. When Ford went to Gravity Falls to study anomolies it led to him being a reclusive hermit, completely cut off from friends and family. And Ford still has that attitude of superiority and isolation. If Dipper lived with Ford he would end up being cut off from real life just as much as Mabel is cut off from real life in her bubble. The healthier option for both of them is to be with their family, at least until they've grown up a bit more. Also, the cat judge is voiced by Jon Stewart!

Dreamscaperers once had them go in more than just Stan's mind, but a lot of Mabeland was inspired from it. Waffles with big arms from Ep 3. The sprinkles relate to the shorts pre-S2. Ya better watch them! Ultimately Alex intended it that Mabel didn't wanna grow up, while Dipper wanted to grow too fast. Dippy Fresh is based on the obnoxious voice promos for Disney XD. And yes, Dipper snapped his neck. I fell for fake Wendy my first watch X) she also winked like the shape shifter. The judges VA convinced Alex to make S2. The animators being limited to summer wanted any excuse, hence winter at Fords disappearance and autumn photo day. Seeing 'disaster' made me wonder how much Mabel knew about Weirdmageddon outside, seeing as she didn't react upon mentions of Bill, but was definitely alarmed before the bubble. The frustrations with this got so big that in a graphic novel 2 years after this, was a whole Mabel story made for the issue. Hope you watch the hour long comic dub after the finale. I admire how you took it tho. :) Lastly, in a chat I saw about Stan's group, loads were going crazy about seeing Pacifica there.

Dippy Fresh is Mabel's idealization of her brother, making it clear that she was about to make the same mistake as Stan with Ford, only she didn't send Dipper to another dimension. Only condemned to its dimension… Dipper gave up his ideal dream for his twin, but while we don't know the answer, it's obvious that her parents wouldn't accept it. Although we didn't see it, Stan would have hit Ford for it, but in the end both brothers are together. Pacífica It looks very good despite everything.

Fun fact about Mabeland a majority of its concepts were taken from the scrapped plot of "Dreamscaperers" when they were originally going to explore the minds of all the main cast.

I find the discourse around Mabel to be so interesting. I didn't mind her at all when I was first watching the show, but now I understand why so many people are put off by her. Alex has said that Dipper and Mabel are meant to represent him and his sister. He even pushed for Lance Bass of NSYNC to voice one of the members of Sev'ral Timez just so his sister (a big NSYNC fan when they were younger) would have an opportunity to meet him. As sweet as all this is, it means that the character of Dipper is a vehicle for Alex to be thoughtful and introspective about himself while Mabel is a vehicle for him to express nostalgia and wish-fulfilment about his sister. So the characters never stand on equlal footing. One will always be learning tough life lessons while the other one will just get what they want. Again, this is all very sweet in context, it just means that one character is as complex or interesting as they could be, which can make their excessive personality annoying to a lot of people.

Mabel has her times where she can be selfish, but it's never out of malicious intent. She loves her brother and doesn't want to lose him. And it really didn't help when everyone Was telling her how horrible the growing up was going to be. Honestly this made me think a lot about how we tend to talk about growing up in general. It can suck, but it can also be freeing and an opportunity for new adventures. Will you have the people you care about around, it can always be a good time. Plus, again, Dipper staying with Ford was always a bad idea. All of this is his fault.

One of the things I like is, when dipper finds out that wendy is fake its because she winked at him. That's a cool call back to the bunker episode where he could tell who the fake was because the fake one winked at him.

Now it`s time for the big finaly. Man, I just loved the memory scene where they showed Dipper and Mabel`s relationship. It just fits with the message of this show of growing up and start new things. I mean, if you think about it, we as fans also made a journey by starting this series and in the end some of us might don`t want it to be over but we all had to realize that this is the finaly and we had to let this beatiful show go.

super stoked for the finale! it's a double episode, which is how they fit so much content in it (also why some sources list an additional episode of the show, which is really just the second half of the finale, because it aired as two parts). it gets into some pretty dark territory, and wraps up the show in a very bittersweet way. the clips in the ending credits are my favorite part.
