Personally, I don't care what device you play on so props to the console players! If you play DayZ you're cool in my books... unless you hack in which case I hope Anarchy finds you.

BI certainly has found a creative way to displace campers, get people to leave their bases, and potentially reduce lag from fewer base builds in towns with this update

They should add a Gas Mask bag that could either take a vest slot like the chest holster or belt slot in the place of the canteen

I think making the gas mask filters non refillable is a big mistake, you should be able to refill it with crushed charcoal tablets because they're pretty much useless, even if you need a hammer to crush the tablets and a screwdriver or of the sorts to open the filter it would be so much better than carrying a whole other filter

I think charcoal tablets should be used for filter regeneration like it says in the description. Allow charcoal tablets to refill the filter for an extra minute for example.

I feel like certain areas of Tisy/Kamensk Millitary base should be static contamination zones. Combat Gas masks should provide other bonuses if filter cant be replaced Radios should given coordinate warnings of inbound strikes Make the gas a little denser so lightsources are more useful Using duct tape on car windows should help slow the amount of gas that comes into the car

Suggestions: refillable (charcoal) Mask cartridges Less random contamination (let's not get carried away and kill the player base) A few raincoats and duct tape should make a Hazmat suit. Still need a proper mask. Functional and safe bunker areas (some buildings asset already have a sealed door bunker style. use it!) Spawning Hazmat zombies is ridiculous, IMO. Let the zombies be cleared and focus on the gas and loot / other players. Add a random percentage of crash sites with loot, to bombarded areas. High ground should be safe zones. Radio towers, maybe control towers, apartment building rooftops, etc... Local siren sounds 60 seconds before a hit on a town. That would give players a head up AND attract post-gas looters/fire fights Pox stim is a good idea, but eating charcoal might give a player some relief during stage 2 poisoning. Great patch!

This is an excellent update by the devs and nice video by you Wobo. When I was in the military we learned how to make a makeshift hazmat dress with our large full length raincoats and tape. Of course we had proper gas masks. That could be cool addition, tape up the raincoat to give a little better protection…

There is one thing you missed mentioning, if you have a bloodbag and you leave the gas zone fast then a quarter of a bloodbag will heal the sickness and you will be able to use the other 3 quarters of the bloodbag later. That's how I survived my firstgas air strike, I had a week old char and got into an air attack I ran quickly out and logged of to Google alternative treatment because I did not want to lose the char and then I found that out so my char lived another few days idk if I should share this because it seems that not many know about this and it could give me an advantage over others but wtf I still do share because I don't want ppl thinking it's unfair change to the game and finding antidode is not easy so that's the easy way. Don't go into potential gas zones if u don't have blood on you and if you hear the air strike run for ur life to leave the zone as fast as possible. Good luck survivors hope this helps

Interesting that the artillery strikes cause NBC zombies to spawn - it doesn't make a lot of sense to me in so far as it makes it hard to suspend your disbelief. Otherwise I think this is a really interesting and really cool idea and adds some interesting lore too - that the army is presumably holding on somewhere beyond the borders, trying to keep the infection contained

I love this patch!! I had a rocket dropped on my head at zelengorsk! I survived the gas without getting poisoned. I went all across the map to find all the nbc pieces. It took me three days without cycling the loot. I have a full set and went to rify! Best thing ever! The gas in this patch is epic!!! BTW Charcoal tabs should refill the mask but be more rare.

I changed to console after 3k+hours on PC, kinda cool chilling on the couch and playing DayZ. Still play on PC every now and then. Thanks for all the info Wobo!

This is crazy. I'm so excited. I asked this question on your community post but was wondering if it's possible to go above the gas and be safe like in the Novo clocktower or a radio tower?

So from what I've gathered the gas that is being used is mustard gas. It has many of the same characteristics that we're seeing in game such as coughing, coughing up blood,blurry vision along with vomiting blood and then death.

WOBO your channel is one of the only channels I actually have notifications turned on for. Questions about the gas: do cars offer any protection? I know that they protect against cold, maybe the toxic gas is similar to element damage. Being able to full send a car into Paplovo could offer a safer way to eliminate zombies.

I find the mechanics very entertaining, but I also worry about the potential for everyone's favorite teleport hackers (or just rogue admins) to just poof an entire server worth of people into a static gas zone.

After seeing this video I can confirm that yes, you do get a red flare over your location when it's primed to be gassed. I'm a new DayZ player and ran into this within a town and left just to be safe, only to quickly see the entire town hit right as I reached the outskirts. Pretty intense feeling of dread especially since I was playing alone at the time.

Great video, as always. Digging the code to update my mods, I found other clothes that protect from chemical gas. All the parts the NBC suit have chemical protection set to 1 and we have the following values on other clothes: Chirugical gloves : 0.25 NiosFaceMask : 0.25 LabCoat : 0.25 Wellies : 0.5 Gorka Pants : 0.25 Gorka Jacket : 0.25 Firefighter pants : 0.5 Firefighter Jacket : 0.5 I don't know how it influence on the survivor protection (maybe it changes the chances to bleed)

The loot on those areas should be really outstanding, else there is no reason to spend so much time collecting all the gear and risk your life. As an option, radiation zone camping could be interesting ;)

This is a really needed patch for DayZ, think it will really make the gameplay interesting but do think they needed to make a few building resident to the gas if the doors are closed and you can stay inside for the time that the gas is around.

I have a Mestel SGE 400/3BB gas mask (CBRN rated) because I ain't fuckin' around for when a real plague strikes... that, and we had some intense smoke from a forest fire, and breathing was almost impossible without it. Also lookin' into getting a CBRN suit complete with PAPR (Powered Air Purifying Respirator) system, which my mask is also compatible with. Standard 40mm threads. Keep the whole damn kit ready to go. This cotton mask or surgical mask shit is such a joke. I can't believe people are so ignorant they think that's sufficient protection against viruses. It's meant to prevent YOU from breathing directly into a patient's wounds, and from their blood spattering into your mouth and nose, THAT'S IT. Anyway, I could rant for hours about this, so I won't. Great video, and that part at 8:00 was freaking priceless, lol.

I think they went a little overboard with the random zones. I wish they would have just had like 4-5 static zones. Like Tisy. That just seems like the perfect place for one

I wish admins could spawn these anywhere. Sure would be abused on some servers, but that goes for any admin tools anyway. It would be very useful for a faction I made up for our RP server too.

The thought of sprinting for my life out of a town about to gassed sounds awesome! This is definitely gonna make gunfights more intense.

Questions: 1. How long will the bombed areas be contaminated? Until restart? 1 hour? 2. If you log in on a server on a gased area you are pretty much fuc$#? Its time to start loggin off on the middle of the woods? 3. Are you safe inside any type of building or structure? Can you climb over the gas, like on top of a crane or tall building? 4. You can’t hear the artillery if you’re not in the zone where it’s about to land? imagine just being outside the zone when the artillery goes off and running into the zone unsuspectingly 5. Does the gas effect plants, player made structures or loot inside your inventory?

Here's my critique on the devs, I like that the unprotected zombles die when exposed to the gas in the dynamic pop-up zones, but I DON'T like that NBC zombles spawn in their place, I think the NBC zombles should be specific to the static zones as they'd be the only ones that would've survived, but to have them there in the dynamic ones is utterly stupid, where did they appear from? What SHOULD happen, is that the unprotected zombles should get hit with the dynamic gas and freak out, becoming extremely aggressive and harder to kill as well as having a harder hit and erratic movement for say, 5 minutes until they themselves succumb to the gas and die, but until they succumb and die, they should be crazy by the gas poisoning. That's what I think should happen, if there's nothing there for you to gain from, that's what should happen. NBC zombles popping up outta nowhere is utterly ridiculous, wouldn't you believe that they would've never turned into zombles in the first place if wearing the NBC suits and masks this entire time? Right. Devs should 100% change this.

This update has done tons to make the world feel alive and purposeful. To know/hear the world still living and fighting beyond the borders of the map, and the military using chem weapons in this type of situation is amazing. Being constantly ready for a gas attack is awesome!

Hey Wobo, how will the field transceiver come into play with this update? They included the radio in the initial teaser video but Im wondering if it has any importance regarding the toxic zones. Would be cool if we could tune in to a frequency to hear where the zone will be next. Then, use the radio to warn anyone using a handheld anywhere on the map. In turn, more survivors would start using walkies and that would make for aweaome RP interactions.

Why the generic sick symbol and not a biohazard ☣️ symbol? I know it's a little thing but c'mon! That'd be cool right?!

Also a side note WOBO, charcoal tabs are SUPPOSED to refill the filters....it's literally in the description of the charcoal tabs themselves, I really hope DayZ devs remember this and add the ability to repair/refill filters with the charcoal tabs or otherwise, it's literally stupid because the description of the charcoal clearly says it does.... hopefully they'll add that before it hits stable, or they're dumb, like usual lol.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I don't like the artillery strikes. The game has always been more realistic than most, it has always been a fight to survive in a world completely void of advanced life but now with artillery strikes it seems to me more like some game show where you're limited to the game area and the showrunners use gas attacks to spice it up for viewers. It's just immersion breaking is all. The permenant ones are really cool though.

I think that they should work on adding more for console. All the new maps and some content that pc players get. Dayz has the potential to be the best game out there with some more work and fixes. It’s still my favorite game but limited on console.

I don't appreciate how much is required to survive the gas strike, I think only a gas mask with filter should be required to be in the strike area. Very few will carry a whole NBC/Hazmat set to stay in the area, making logging out standard for most players.

All I can say is WTF? I would hate to be a first time player. This shit is for the hardcore players. I'm glad I got 1000+ hours.

So dope. Pretty stoked this game is keeping its hardcore roots through development. I don’t like having to carry an NBC suit around just in case though, I wish the items took up less space, maybe. But we’re gonna see a lot more turtle backpacks being left outside military zones now. Which is honestly a welcome change. I feel like ghillie suits became more useless tho with the lack of storage to hold a full nbc suit plus survival items. Gonna be interesting 🙂

Why do people enjoy these Zones? Static zones, fine. Random strikes? Wtf???

They should make filters refillable, make more static zones, more high-tier loot spawns in those zones and make it so having some but not all of the NBC gear mitigates the gas poisonning while not preventing it. That's all I have to add, great video as always !

The frequency of chemical strikes increases according to the increased amount of gear in certain textile*. This would clear out enemy bases, or at least make them rethink their base building and maintenance strategies.

Put 1000 hours in from 1.0 to 1.10. Haven't touched it since. The contaminated zones are exactly what I needed to want to play again. Close to the coast so we'll see a lot of irradiated freshies. Can't wait to RP a Stalker hermit living in the woods

I spent a good bit of time guarding a chemical weapons depot that was full of some of the most deadly substances known to man. The stockpile were all old chemical munitions and they leaked periodically. I had nightmares for a long time about getting exposed to that shit (and nearly did). VX, G and GB nerve, Sarin, and Mustard gas were just some of the delights awaiting to be released onto some poor soul.

I just recently got struck by the random gas strike, which was alerted by a flare I disregarded as a lighting bug, but I was able to get out before lvl three started and use 2 Tetracycline Pills to remove the sickness status effect. So I didn't die, and raided the town afterwords.

I stopped playing after month 2 of dayzSA alpha, but its great to see the progression. im getting a serious itch to buy a pc and survive!
