As a Lebanese Christian, I feel shocked to what has become of the west. Lebanon was a Christian, modern and peaceful country until those of the jihad religion destroyed it. We have warned the world time and again of the dangers of immigration, yet no one listened. We were even sometimes labeled as "fascists" by world media during the Lebanese civil war although all what we were doing was to protect our country and culture.

I'm a British Sikh and proud of the United Kingdom. I respect English laws and culture. My grandfather served for the British army during World War 2 and proudly gave up his life. My father also served the British army and did 2 tours in Iraq. Why do these people think they have a right to impose their religion on us all? Why can't they respect the west? Why are they immigrating to Europe if they can't respect the people and culture? They've ruined the U.K. which is a beautiful country.

Unfortunately we have some ignorance like this in Canada as well. Once, I went Cabane a sucre here in Quebec with my friends and I went to sit at the vegetarian table because I don't eat bacon. I was asked by a man sitting down if I was Muslim and I told him no. He then told me to go to the next table. I looked at his as if he was serious. After he continued to insist, his wife then started yelling in her language. So I left to the other table. Furthermore, my friend who was sitting at their table, who is a Muslim got up from there and came to our table after witness how they treated me. Also, the man's wife wore a hijab and my friend didn't which both are Muslim. That goes to show you can be rotten to the core and wearing religious garments.

It's astonishing. Even in Turkey, a Muslim majority country, no parallel application of sharia law illegally like this is tolerated. Maybe western countries should consider taking after Turkey actually in this matter. We have a ministry of religious affairs which regulates everything related to Islam, ensuring a harmonious co-existence with the secular state, even sermons given on Fridays are government approved.

Britain wake up!

I'm not defending Islam (I'd be the last person to do so) but it's important to understand why Haitham al-Haddad and other more devout (some may say extreme) Muslim's like him refuse to shake hands with a woman or sit next to one in a debate. They consider it haram (sinful for them) for a man and woman to interact in this casual manner without her husband or a male relative present. Especially if it's a Western woman who isn't dressed modestly or according to Sharia with a Hijab. Many automatically jump to the conclusion these Muslim''s see women as inferior or believe it's not a woman's place to do such things. And whilst there is an aspect of truth to that I'm sure, it's more I think because of the beliefs and practices of the devout Muslim who doesn't want to appear sinful or haram. That said, that way of thinking and behaving in a modern society is undoubtably going to affect and restrict women's roles and rights. How they're perceived and treated in society. And this does come down to the main issue raised in the documentary, can Islam be modernised or practised at least in a manner which doesn't cause friction and issues in a modern democratic State like Britain. The answer is no it cannot and yes it will cause friction and problems if Muslim's continue to gain influence politically who hold to a devout very Islamic worldview. Because ultimately Islam doesn't support democracy even as a means of governing. It's not compatible with Islam which follows a Shura style of government and a Sharia legal system which revolves around Islamic scripture and practice. The government and society adapts to accomodate Islamic scripture and teachings. Islam doesn't adapt to accomodate Western-democracy States. And therein lies the problem and why Muslim's like this man try to establish an Islamic society and Islamic State within a State. Islam once established in a non-Islamic country if allowed to will eventually turn that country into an Islamic State with Shura government and Sharia law. That's the ulltimate desire and goal for Muslims as it's stated that''s how Muslim's can live according to the Prophet Muhammad and Quranic scripture and the Hadith in the most perfect way by the Prophet's example who is considered The Perfect Muslim. We know from history and the last 1,400 years that wherever Islam has spread in a rigid form and particularly during periods of Islamic Empires and conquest, non-Islamic countries have ended up becoming Islamic culture and Islamic State countries. Even most of Spain did briefly for nearly 700 years as the Ottoman Empire expanded into Europe. Countries like Iran, Iraq, Indonesia etc were never Islamic countries and had their own rich cultures until Islam took root in those countries. Many Islamic countries have a form of democracy and elections, but they're nearly always skewed towards Muslim candidates and politicians and guided by Islamic and Sharia clerical authority above the system of government and justice. So not really true democracies and they don't support Common Law or even basic Human Rights values.
