मैं थोड़ा बहुत गा लेता हूं। हजारों बार इस गाने को शुरू कर के साथ गाने की कोशिश की मगर जैसे ही आवाज़ निकालने लगता हूं, रोने लगता हूं। रफ़ी साहब की आवाज से आवाज़ मिलाकर गाना मेरे लिए नामुमकिन है। मैं उनको सिर्फ सुन सकता हूं। गाने लगता हूं तो रोने लगता हूं इतना दर्द है रफ़ी साहब की आवाज़ में।

This film was a career beginning for Lakshmi pyareji. Rafiji had given unchallenged songs in Dosti, I was a highschool boy, and our generation was passing through a traditional challenge, but from songs our parents got relief!!!! This song lyrics , just observe how he makes each word a divine live pearl!!! The greatness that has stayed for more than half century is absolutely due to this divine rendering . Sitting at Royal city of Mysore I am going to my school days here.

पुराने गाने कोई भी हो, वे सीधे दिल में उतरते थे,,,रफी साहब के गाए दर्द भरे गानों की बात ही अलग थी,, वे जिस तरह आज की तरह कई वाद्य यंत्रों से लैस होकर नही गाते थे,,दी चार instrument के साथ ही गाते थे तो ऐसा लगता था जैसा उन्होंने अपने दिल का दर्द निकाल के रख दिया हो, वे गायकी में खो जाते थी,,जो सुनने वालों की आंखे आंसुओं से तर ब तर कर बैठते,,,गाने भी दिल से लिखे होते थे,,,,,यह गाना सुनकर सच में अपने से सदा सदा के लिए बिछड़े अपने बहुत याद आते है,,,

This immortal song is written by Asad Bhopali. Vibrations in the starting of the song (Voice of Lata) is unbelievable. Rafi's voice in this song is divine. It is a divine experience listening to this song. The movie was released in 1963 and we are listening to this song in 2016, even after 53 years.

Koi singer jab Rafi sahab ka geet gata hai toh sunanewale ko fark zath mehsoos hota hai. Pata chal jata hai ki iss particular line mein halki si mistake ho gayi hai. Itna jabardast asar hai unki awaaz ka.....! Kai jagah pe lagta hai awaaz goonj rahi hai.

Mohammad Rafi keeps his voice perfectly tight-winded throughout the song & only unwinds exactly that much which is required at appropriate places. He was master of his game. The delicate layers he creates at end of word 'aaye' in certain stanzas is a treat to ears. Salute!

When I hear this song I remember my dearest brother whose favorite song of those years ,,had a huge collection of Rafi songs in cassettes those days, but l lost him at the prime of his life way back in 1984 . I still listen to these beautiful songs in his memory and cry bitterly in silence
