On the 10th April 2024 I visited her grave in Lucknow.. Beside is also her mother's grave. Physically she is gone but her sweet Voice still lives on for ever.

I first time listened this Gazal in movie Dedh Ishqia. Then I searched it on KZfaq and found the original singer Begum Akhtar. From that day I started to listen this sweet voice with full of pain and love. Begum Akhtar Sahiba became my favourite Gazal Singer.

Yes, I do remember, how I as a kid saw my father listen to Begum Akhtar every evening with a drink in his hand during 1970s and 80s. He is no more. Begum Akhtar's voice brings those memories rushing back. Sad and painful but thanks to Saregama for preserving the voice of Begum Akhtar and my memories.

Wohi Yaani Vaada Nibah ka - Oh God what subtlety in saying , ' That, means that Promise of Commitment, don't know whether you remember or not" Superb. No doubt it brings the soft reminders, loving teasing and Lucknowi nazakat all in one song.

I was brought up in Hyderabad (AP) My last memory of Hyderabad in 1940s was listening to Begum Akhtar live . That memory at my first love in UK and its demise inspired the following poem; just the first few lines: تمہیں یاد ہو کہ نہ یاد ہو۔ اپنی پہلی وہ ملاقات مجھے یاد ہے اب بھی گیسو تیرے بادل کی گھٹاٰئیں بھیگا سا بدن ساون کا مہینہ وہ نقرؤی آواز ۔ گھنگرو کی چلن تیری آنکھوں کی قسم۔ تیرے انداز پہ قرباں وہ قیامت کی جوانی۔ جوانی کی قسم۔ میرے مدہوش گناہوں صنم تمہیں یاد ہو کہ نہ یاد ہو۔ آپنی پہلی وہ ملاقات مجھے یاد ہے اب بھی! حسن زیدی (روشن)

As a child I still remember watching her last live concert in Ahmedabad with my father..... She was one of her kind... I used to love her voice and" gayeki " Later I happened to read her biography.... And I also have grown up... So I understood... That durd-e-muhobbat aur intezaar.... In her voice.... I simply mesmerized by her persona as well as her voice.... She is still here with us in her voice.... 😍😍🌹🌹

After this concert, she took ill and passed away in Ahmedabad. Do you remember the venue of this concert? Interesting that you were present on that occasion. Her mausoleum, I think, is in Lucknow.

आज अचानक गजल समरज्ञी बेगम अख्तर जी की गजल सुनकर फीरसे दिलं भावविभोर हो गया, और भारतीय संगीत की महानता का एहसास हुंआ. और मुझे अचानक हमारे बाबुजी की याद आई, बाबुजी को नींद नहीं आने की प्राबलम थी ,तो बाबुजी रात रात भर बेगम अख्तर जी की गजले सुना करते थे. ए महोबबत तेरे अंजाम पे......और कितनी ही एक से बढकर एक खुबसुरत classicगजले बाबुजी. सुने ते थे और उनकी वजह से realसंगीत क्या है यह पता चला,जब तक सुरज चांद रहेगा... बेगम जी की गजले. दुनिया में ऐसे ही गुंजती रहगी.

Itne saalon ke baad phir se ye ghazal sunkar, purani yaadein taaja ho gayi, wahi dil ko choo lene waali awaaz, kya kahen, mann bhar aaya! Mallika-e-Tarunnam kehlaati thiin, awaaz mein itni mithaas aur jadoo tha. Ye ghazal jitni khoobsurat utne hi piyaare andaaz se gaaya, Begum Akhtar ji ne isei!Aur Khayyam Sahab ka bahut hi piyaare sangeet ne gaayiki ki shobha bada di! Lutf aa gaya sunkar! Bahut bahut shukriya aapka isei share karne ke liye! Shubh kaamnayen!
