This song is a celebration of Lord Krishna's earthly antics...He's India's favourite lotus-eyed flute playing dark-complexioned avatar of Lord Vishnu, considered to be the absolute human manifestation of the Supreme divinity. Krishna is arguably the most engaging, interesting and entertaining form of God in human history...He was also one who broke taboos and rules with elan, while enlightening His devotees by example about the purpose of life and the manner in which it should be lived. In a country where fair skin is much coveted, He was born dark as the late evening sky (hence his name 'Shyam'). In a society where filial bonds of blood are held sacrosanct, He made a case for adoption by holding his foster mother Yashoda at a higher plane of reverence than his biological mother Devki (He's addressed more often as 'Yashoda-nandan' and 'Nand-lala' or son of Yashoda & Nand after His foster parents than as the child of His biological parents). He was as naughty a hell-raiser as any child and a butter-thief ('Makhan-chor') to boot...legend has it that here He was asking his devotees to surrender unto Him (God) the best fruit of their earthly labor (the butter). All the ladies complained about the mischief He made but adored Him at the same time. Although He was of a royal lineage, He worked as a cowherd ('Gopal' or 'Govind') to make a case for the dignity of labor. As a youth, He was terribly popular with the girls (Gopis) and they were all in love with Him (He's also called 'Gopikishan'), but His soulmate Radha had His heart. He declared that her name would always preceed His and so it is to this day (hence 'RadheKrishna' or 'RadheShyam'), which proves He was quitea feminist. When He played the flute (murli or bansuri), the entire creation was mesmerized and everyone stopped to listen to His divine music that spoke to the soul (hence His names 'Murlidhar' & 'Bansiwala'). He lifted a mountain (Giri) to protect His people ('Giridhar') and slew many demons. As an adult, He was the ruler of Dwarka ('Dwarkadhish') and as cousin of the Pandav princes He was their mentor and guide in the Mahabharat war. He spoke the eternal divine verses of the 'Bhagvad Gita' during this war to instruct His devotees about the meaning of life, action (Karma), discipline of divine union (Yoga) and righteous duty (Dharma). The Bhagvad Gita (Sacred Song) has been the foremost Hindu religious text and the juice of Vedantic philosophy for centuries. We take our oath of truth on the 'Bhagvad Gita'. This is a brief introduction: 'Wo Kisna hai' which means 'He is Krishna'.

No one mentioned “ramta jogi” how did we go straight to kisna and not mention taal..

Holi was worlds 1st , probably , anti racist movement festival. Krishna was only dark skin colour in the region putting him distinct though most charismatic. So holi applies colours to everyone so everyone looks same but indian context of same is not plain white or black but all equally colourful. Very essence of Indian culture.

So lord Krishna was from brij bhoomi which mean land of brij and Radha was from the nearby village ... Both r prayed to together n not alone n Radha was his lover . I just felt that whoever recommends them plz make sure that first they know something about lord Krishna and Radha. They just don't know about them and hence can't understand the beauty of this song.
