Not gonna happen. Can’t understand LBJ’s obsession about Vegas. Tickets for the inaugural in season tournament semi finals didn’t sell out until the game started. Tickets were as low as $35. Seattle is a given however, I can’t see how they don’t get a franchise. The two no brainer choices should be Seattle and Vancouver & I’m going to list a few reasons why. 1.) Vancouver is the real city snubbed in this scenario if it was to go through. Vancouver never really got a proper chance and it started with a owner who had absolutely no idea on how to run a franchise as just a couple years earlier inherited the NHL team in that city (the canucks) from his father however he was clueless with the franchise & he did not have the pockets to run a franchise efficiently and it showed right away especially when they had three owners in a five-year span, and the last owner promised to keep the team in Vancouver and made a sale for them to move within nine months of purchasing them while promising to keep the team in Vancouver. The Grizzlies when in Vancouver had 101 wins in six seasons which averaged to 17.25 wins per season in a 82 game schedule. Most seasons every team averages more than 17 wins in a season. 2.) Dispute the dreadful seasons attendance was never the issue. Of course every season the numbers were dropping but they averaged between 13th-18 in attendance each of four seasons, then dropped to 25th & 27th. Yes the final year it went bottom 4 but every season some team has to be last or in the bottom. This isn’t European soccer where the bottom teams gets relegated/ relocated not to mention tickets for any events in Vancouver are always some of the most expensive in North America. 3.)NBA culture in Vancouver is vastly underrated. Whenever there’s NBA pre season or any NBA related events the stadiums & Venues sellout with a matter hours not to mention incredibly expensive too! When the Kings played the Raptors in Vancouver back in October the entire stadium nearly sold out in pre sales alone. Upper bowl tickets were going for 220$ CDN & lower bowl for 400$+ CDN for preseason ball even with a 1.25$ exchange on the USD it’s still incredibly more profitable. Whenever I’m in the city I see grizzlies hats and jerseys worn everywhere. 4.) You’re targeting a larger audience. Population is not an issue especially the density as downtown Vancouver (which also has a NBA ready stadium that would be a top 5 in capacity) has the 3rd highest population density in North America also has 2.85 million people in the metro area has got nearly 3.5 million people in the region & just under 6 million in BC alone. Not to mention the west of Canada has a population of 14 million people as there’s no city that has more diversity then Vancouver as it’s known for its multiculturalism so resulting in a lot less racism & shootings plus the NBA is huge in China & a team in Vancouver would instantly be even a bigger then the LA Lakers there. 5.) Also Vancouver has a high population increase annually not to mention they have the second highest GDP in North America next to Seattle. 6.) Ultimately the NBA is a business and the league will want to continue to grow not just is pure revenue but also in popularity. Even with the USD & CDN exchange rate a team in Vancouver is more profitable than any city in America with the exception of Seattle. 7.) 100% a XMAS game with Toronto Vs Vancouver would crush TV viewership ratings plus there would be a reignited rivalry in the PNW as Portland would then be the smallest market of the three & would also make a market like Portland more appealing as travel would be drastically reduced. I’m sorry y’all, I don’t mean to hate on Vegas it’s just that the population & especially the GDP levels are not the same. Vancouver was never given a fair chance and both Seattle and Vancouver relocated to smaller markets. I do truly believe Adam Silver sees Seattle and Vancouver as the most viable and profitable options. Seattle & Vancouver 100% My apologies for the long message

They’ve kept it since 2001 so at this point they might as well continue to have it although I don’t think they’ll be able to wear the Vancouver throwbacks. Personally I think the name Vancouver Cobras would be suiting. The name rolls off the tongue well for starters there’s snakes in BC the the initials VC are iconic to the city which stands for VanCity. Plus there’s an opportunity for them to re create ANOTHER wicked logo.

Its not about who have the most money starting a brand new franchise. Sure, buying a franchise is pure about money, it goes to owner to owner, current owners will look for buyers who offer the most, and no way in hell LeBron can outbid multibillionaires. But starting a new franchise is totally different, what makes more sense and will have more guarantee the franchise will surive and be a succes, let LeBron be a franchise owner or lets say a Mark Zuckerberg? LeBron is the face of the NBA for literally decades, NBA teams being worth so much nowadays, LeBron has a huge role in it. He will get that franchise when hes done playing ball. Some things cant be bought, its earned.

I truly believe that those 6 cities can support a NBA team through thick and thin. Other players would absolutely be getting opportunity to make a name for themselves. There should be a 10 yr rule to a player/ex-player to own a team. They'd have too many connections to current players to build a super team.

You can't just pick and choose randomly what players you get, expansion drafts don't work that way. Teams will protect their best players and it would take years for the new team to have great players.
