The time has come... Wolf season is over & Spring is in full affect! Unfortunately I ended up getting quite sick 4-5 days prior to seasons closure which forced me to call it quits before doing one last overnighter. My thought process was the fact that I would have been sniffling & coughing inside of the blind all day & that would have 100% spooked off any critters coming towards the bait for a bite to eat.
As much as I was disappointed in missing out the last day of hunting Wolf, there are many of moons & many Wolf hunts to come moving forward! Now that we have the bait site & ground blind established, my next season starting September 15th, 2024 will be much easier than this one was. No prepping, no extra noise, no timbers to clear... Just start baiting & wait for the dogs to show up!
Stay tuned for some upcoming videos, which most likely will be fishing focused, but I will be sure to get a few Black Bear hunt videos on here to keep that hunting itch going!

Really enjoy your show. I am 71 years old from Ohio. When I was a child my family went to White Lake Provincial Park almost every year for walleyes. Not real big they were great eating. Fond memories.

Hello brother!!! Thank you for watching & sending me so much love!!! If there is anything specific you'd like to see, let me know eh!!! And remember, big fish don't matter because the fish are BONUS when were out in a boat, or on the shore casting lures... The bush provides us such serenity, but when you harvest a Walleye, Wolf or Bear... that just adds even more special memories to your outing!

I'd love to come visit!!!! I've never been to Timmins, but I have heard lots of stories about the area after working with a few folks who grew up there. I also didn't know you folks had such big dogs down there just like we do! Looks like south of you around Sudbury there may not be as many big dogs & as you get close to Algonquin Park, there isn't much other than Eastern Wolves which are quite small compared to the Timbers we have between Timmins & Red Lake!!! Then again... Down south, 2 hours north of Toronto I have heard stories of Timbers roaming so who knows!

Trappers course should just be considered as beginners education. Wolf trapping in particular takes meticulous attention to both visual and scent control….spare no minor detail in prep and trap/snare setting. You can never stop learning a trick or two. Good luck 🤞🏽

100-friggin-% man. You hit the nail on the head. It covers (what I think) is below basic skills, which then you have to go out in the field afterwards & hone in on whatever it is you're doing. I am absolutely PUMPED for the course.

They were just running the rivers in Thunder bay/Lake Superior area. I have not heard them run up this far north in Red Lake, but I may be wrong?

I know the feeling about getting sick and ruining a trip. Last summer I was supposed to take a 7 day canoe trip and the day before I was supposed to leave, a nasty bug hit me. I think it was covid but I never went to the hospital. But a buddy stopped in on day 2 and I told him; don't come in cause I don't want to share whatever this is. He said; meh, I already have a cold so I'm fine. 2 days after that he ended up in the hospital with covid and pneumonia cursing me. I said; I told you I was sick!! But by day 3 I had to cancel my trip and ended up in bed the entire week of my vacation. It sucked. Hopefully I make up for it this year.

@@PatterningNature it's this past weekend. He's still here at my place. Rain, ice on lakes, frozen trails and weather warnings changed our plans of camping in fear we may get in to the site but may not get back out. So we decided to do day trips from my house. This morning we have a freezing rain warning now and it's below zero. Maybe I planned the trip a week or so too early but we're still having fun.

@@darrendavidsonoutdoors Eh... There is always next year! I utilize SENTINAL HUB for all my satellite imagery. I got a lake I go to near Ignace & we timed the ice being off within 2 days of us showing up to camp by using satellite imagery (That consistently updates... not Google maps LOL)
@darrendavidsonoutdoors

@@PatterningNature thanks! I was trying to search for a satellite link to see and couldn't find one so I just jumped in my pickup 2 days prior to the trip and went to the area I planned to camp to check conditions. Saw that moose on the road which made the trip worth it but 3 out of 4 lakes I wanted to fish had ice on them still. 😕 Let Tubbyguy and my brother-in-law know the conditions and we changed plans. I told them; your guide sucks! I can't even control the weather no matter how much carbon tax I pay! LOL!

The trapping license will definitely add a fun element for your videos. Its slightly barbaric but a lot of things in life are. Sheltering yourself away from reality doesnt make it go away. Youll have a great wolf season next year, before that you will be fishing and bear hunting. Its all good

I also eat my steak like a barbarian, so maybe trapping has been my calling all this time? 😆 I think this next Wolf season will be one to remember... Renee will be here with me as well, so she will be joining as much as she can!

@@PatterningNature awesome! Friday after work I took the dog for a long walk from home. Hooked into a chunky pike. Seeing lots of wolf tracks and chickens seem to be numerous. I am pumped for all the seasons! Are you into the spring bear hunt now?

@@differentfins Haven't even thought for a moment to bait Bear - But I will do a spot & stalk up at Franklins here once Bear opens up. If I can get my hands on some pastries I will also bait my spot too but we will see - I've been busy with my gardens & prepping for the frost to bugger off so I can plant stuff!!!
@differentfins

@@PatterningNature haha yeah it snowed here today. I am not really planting anything this summer. I will be gone for two weeks in July and dont want to have to ask someone to watch my veggies while I am gone. Also I am planning on constructing a new raised garden. So this year is work so that next year will be a better growing season.
