It's a segment, so it might happen. I wanted the exact same thing. Also, during this, Shadow says he feels repulsed when Sonic is near him (in character). Does this mean he dislikes him or just is really annoyed with him?

Ian Flynn spoke about that on a recent BumbleKast episode and he pretty much confirmed that the characterization that Shadow had from SA2 to 06 we’ll never see again. It just seems like this is what SEGA wants for him and his dynamic with Sonic and that sucks. If I had to guess it’s probably because SEGA thinks this kind of dynamic is what people, especially younger ones, gravitate towards nowadays.

@goddessyamato5238 Respectfully, I disagree. Shadow hasn’t always been this way. In games like SA2, Heroes, and 06, Shadow showed a wide range of emotions, was willing to work with others, showed kindness and compassion to others, and had genuine respect for Sonic and the others. Now he rarely shows any emotion, seemingly hates working with others (though the IDW comics and Sonic Prime have been better with that), has an extreme ego/superiority complex, and doesn’t really show any sort of respect, compassion, and heroic attitude anymore. He’s still a cool character and I’ll always like him, but he’s definitely not the Shadow he was in the past. But let’s please have a little more respect for people and their opinions/feelings, ok?

Sega himself confirmed Shadow was not a edgy like this in the past and literaly the entire fandom agree that he too edgy now 😑 He literaly smile in Battle, 006, Heroes and other game, more proof that he wasn't edgy like this in the past.

Rather, I was merely critiquing and sharing my thoughts about the characterization and direction of a character I and many other Sonic fans hold dear. Is it the most important thing in the world? Of course not. But I believe that we as fans of the series have the right to feel a bit sad that one of if not the most beloved character in the series has gotten a significant downgrade in terms of characterization and writing.

Honestly that’s the other part that makes this current writing for both of them annoying that’s I don’t see many talk about. Like of course they’ve never been buddy buddy and I don’t think anyone is asking for Shadow to be Sonic’s new Tails but they LITERALLY settled their differences IN SA2 where Shadow debuted and since then have been on generally good terms and have had healthy competition, rivalry, and respect for each other. That’s the problem with the current iteration, it just feels forced, retconned, and overly aggressive on both ends for the sake of it.

@@59rlmccormack I feel like we, especially older fans have been asking that for a good while now and SEGA has basically given us the middle finger 😂. This is just the standard now and we have to deal with it or get lost, unfortunately.
