Keep handbags on lap. I know it’s uncomfortable, but after a family member had the same thing happen to her at a restaurant, lost cash, wallet, papers, jewelry and medication (they were traveling), I have maintained a heightened sense of security everywhere I go. Even at a fancy eatery. No safe places period!

Also keep an eye on your bag/purse when shopping. A friend of mine had a lot of cash and her wallet taken from her purse, which she’d placed in the area of the shopping cart where you normally sit a child. One person distracted her and when she turned her back, the second person took the money and wallet. It seems like she was followed from the bank after making a withdrawal. Ladies - keep your bag on your shoulder at all times when out and about.

Never put your purse on the floor or chair keep it on your lap or the table in front of you. I don't even carry purses now I use a fanny pack.

It's always a team effort. There's the person grabbing the item, then there's an almost immediate hand-off, usually at least one hand-off, and a look-out. Been that way since the 1960s.

Always hook your foot through the strap of any bag, plus then put one of the chair legs through too! Finally never carry a wallet in an open top bag! Always use a bag with a zip pocket!!

I drive semi truck so I get a lot of places I know for a fact that most states have street cameras at intersections and highways and bissnesses everywhere so yes a criminal can be caught.. the government just has to look at the footage from all cameras and then the criminals movements are tracked down

This happened to my mom years ago. She was having breakfast with her brother when some woman got her purse that was next to her my uncle went to bathroom and as he came back saw her take the purse they both grabbed the woman and her lookout boyfriend ran off. As they we’re holding her my uncle just snapped the woman’s arm in n two at the elbow they paid the bill and walked off leaving the woman screaming in pain

I’m not really an AI fan, but this might be one thing it would be good for. If they could program it to monitor the cameras and alert when someone reaches for something out of their sitting area. I see this a lot where it’s caught on camera but the thief can’t be identified. Idk, just a thought.
