This didn't have to happen. It was due to lack of tree trimming for years by CenterPoint. Any energy provider must be responsible for the maintenace of equipment and to keep wires, poles and transformers free of debris...

I really don't think that was the case this time! Meyerland area was without power for a while. I also belong to a group with a mixed income of ladies. Those who were well to do were definitely without power. It was just bad all around!

@jryecart8017 I live in the west side where a neighborhood has two sections. And yes they own all the property there. One side where the country club and golf courses are at got power three days after the storm while our side was without power for 6 days. Even the gas stations there got power right after ours came back on and they run under the same power grid so again they are prioritizing the rich and powerful while we were there to go off of what we got without generators. They even did the same thing when we had that storm back in May

Use indoor outdoor thermometer with humidity gauge to monitor the temp and humity inside so you can determine if it is getting dangerously hot inside and act to keep cool. Monitor outdoor temps to know if it is dangerously hot outside. Generally if it is hotter out than in keep windows closed. Sometimes you may need fresh air. Block sunlight from windows. Run cold water on arms or submerse arms in cold water. Use fever thermometer to monitor body temo especially when not feeling well. Monitor temps inside vehicles.

We only slept in our own house for 1 day then next day we went over to my sister’s. If anyone has any doubts while in a hurricane and you feel need to stay somewhere with power, ask your other family early after an hurricane is over and with no power if you can stay over.

Also remember things like radio news stations, download offline maps, if any places around you have preemptively set up centers for distribution/shelter. The first day of the storm was very hard as we had absolutely no connection. 🤞🏼hope this is houstons only one this season

I've been going at least three years without AC in Houston heat. It never gets easier or something I get used to. I can't imagine being elderly dealing with the heat. This was sad to watch. Hope everyone gets power back soon and changes are made.

@@MargDBX I don't have a working heating or cooling system. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. I can't afford to fix it or buy a portable one, but even if I could afford a portable one I wouldn't be able to plug it in my room. It would pull too much power and I'd have to keep flipping the breaker.

This deceased woman had adult children out of State and they didn’t make the time to come and assist their mom! I know she would have STOP her life to see about her children. I’m convinced that parents love for their children are unconditional and children love is based on conditions and convenience especially if they have their own lives. It’s guaranteed that these same adult children will make time to file a law suit against the city and electric company.

You’re absolutely right. The adult children should have came to her rescue. They know the hurricane was going on. Parents do so much for their kids. Their mother was old and alone. I also guarantee they will somehow find time to file a lawsuit but the main thing was to come to their mother in need.

This is so wrong! Rip lady 😢..And some states don't let us truckers run our trucks to keep the AC going. In Arizona, it be 120 outside and 150 in the truck. You can't sleep in that big puddle of sweat! I always ran my truck i didn't give a damn about the law! But I've seen a van full of cops pull up to the truck stop, handing out tickets to trucks that are idiling.

😂 yall are to blame. We had no power for 3 weeks after a ice storm that destroyed all the power lines. We had subzero temperatures all 3 weeks. We only had a wood stove to keep us from freezing to death with below zero temperatures. And this was in Oklahoma.
