When Taylor Tomlinson was interviewing to be the host of After Midnight, she wasn’t even sure she wanted the job. She loved making her own schedule as a touring stand up comedian, and loved her road family. But when the network said she would still have time to be on the road, it was an easy decision to say yes. Sam asks Taylor about how the stakes of her decision making have gotten higher now that other people work for her, choosing to be part of a team, getting advice from other female comedians, and how anxiety can be helpful.

@@AdrianColley I hated them at first, but once El was on I was completely sold (even if I wasn't consciously aware of it). I miss that show. It more pro-Black than the chapelle show ever felt (I mean, after I'd seen a bunch of episodes it was clear why he wanted to quit, it was funny, but in the sense of 'show the white people your dirty laundry so they can laugh at it' kinda way), Amber's show really showcased her knowledge and love of Black history and community. Hopefully it comes back in some form!

YaaaYyyy!!! Two of my fave ‘late night’ comedians/hosts/women. So awesome to see women lifting up women, that sisterhood and camaraderie needs to be seen. These two are shining lights for me mentally and emotionally. Bringers of joy and empathy. LOVE💖✨🤣✨💖

Taylor was having a hard time when _After Midnight_ was new? As a fan, I absolutely couldn't tell. On the show, she appeared relaxed and in control.

The only thing I don't like about Taylor's show is that there isn't enough Taylor on it. She's a good host but I prefer higher standup. My favorite current comic.

I love Taylor's game show! I think she's the perfect host for it, and it's a fun concept for late night. I was honestly a bit skeptical at first, but I watch every episode and have fallen in love with it. It gives many newer comics and actors a showcase they might not have had otherwise while also giving us a different aspect of the well-known comics.

The premise of the show is to highlight the contestants. Taylor has a little segment to start the show and plenty of standup specials to watch. The only thing I don't like about it is that it's a little long and ends at like 1:30am.

That's a cool Moon decoration in the back, that is how it is seen from the equator looking east as the Moon rises over the horizon. From the northern hemisphere, we see it turned 90 degrees clockwise.

This interview is so great, it's nice for people to just call this misogynistic BS out for once, rather than tip-toe around it like it's a puddle of sick in a bar bathroom. Seth Meyers abandoning the suit is also highlighting the fact that a male host can do whatever he wants clothing-wise, but a woman host will be judged harshly for imagined slights against the fashion gods.

As a middle aged cis man (who yes opted for a beard after forty) I never thought the adoration I had for Conan growing up would find a peer (KZfaq vids with Tomlinson and O'Brien in Chicago with American Girl dolls with shooting heard in the distance and I was hooked). I enjoy and deeply respect Stewart, I enjoy and deeply like Colbert, but for Tomlinson I would selflessly do anything she asked short of a felony.

Full Frontal was an amazing show, but the schedule was very eradicate. It would be off for so many weeks, that people just forgot about it.

Since I've known of you both (as if im talking to Sam and Tay directly) anything that seems like a failure from your opinion ...from the outside it does seem like a takedown or roadblock, i get stoked and the forces that beeeeee can't seem to handle your rationale. Only video from one end, but at least the audio quality from Taylor's end is pretty high quality. That's sadly unusual on video-call podcasts.

Wow I haven't seen you in a long time and if I may say you do not look well at all. It looks like you have a black eye and that you are extremely exhausted. There is no life in your voice right now and I'm very scared for you. Dear Ms Sam.... I live in a house with a big percentage of women; and sometimes there can be very little humor. Could it be that TV comedians are run to as a 'safe place', at least occasionably?

I feel really bad for Sam here. Its impossible not to feel jealous of Taylors success and be happy for her after they yanked her show away from her. Its like having to interview your ex-husbands younger hotter new wife and having to pretend that your really rooting for her and glad that she is so happy. You got f ed Sam, you both deserve to be on latenight and we're poorer for not living in that reality.

Sam is able to be happy for and lift up another woman. As Sam said, there should be room for more than one token woman. She's big like that. You should aspire to be like that, too.

Why is it impossible? It's not like Taylor was the one who canceled Sam's show. It would be great to have Sam have a show again, but that doesn't mean she can't enjoy watching someone else succeed. It sounds like she was a genuine fan of Taylor's work. If Taylor succeeds then Sam, and her family, get to continue enjoying Taylor's work as do the rest of us.
