Yes, Poor guy. I can see it too. It's a tough job. I don't know why people always criticize them when it's literally their job to defend.

@@veggieeater I mean, I get it. It's something I catch myself doing sometimes too. Especially with particularly heinous crimes, it can be difficult on a reflexive emotional level to not conflate the defense attorney with what their client did, even while knowing rationally that that's not the case.

The expression on her face AND the way she is cocking her head sideways tells me she is not a good candidate for probation and the judge did the right thing.

When the court tells you to do something, you do it!!! She wanted to do what she wanted to do, but when she found out she was getting locked up, she said, "OK, I'll do inpatient treatment!", but too little too late!!! I'm glad too the judge locked her up and showed her while on paper, she doesn't get to call the shots!!! She found out the hard way her ass belongs to the state until she's done!!! Her message was she would go to treatment but only to avoid going to jail and the judge saw through her act!!!

As in, “you’re done!” Excessive days waiting for court mean nothing. Check Fulton Cty., GA. It may have the most excessive number of days: easily more than a year & often way more than a year.

The judge is absolutely right...people in jail will try and tell someone how to handle their case instead of listening to counsel which is stupid! I saw it many times!

I imagine those advisors in custody lead people down the garden path in order to amuse themselves - more than try to help. She made a number of bad choices. Three hots and a cot for four plus years to rethink one's decisions.

When we use the English language incorrectly in a professional setting, it demeans our work. People don't commit an "OFFence". "OFFence" is the opposite of "DEfence." When someone commits a crime, it's an "offENCE", because they're an "offENDER". I like this judge (and judge Stevens, too), but the inability of Judges in Texas to speak properly inherently dumbs down everything they say. May not be fair, but it's true.

There’s no way you are looking at a life sentence for illegal substances unless it’s a repeat offence. Defendant has been through this rodeo a few times.
