As a dentist myself, I will say that they got lucky. Since the tooth was abscessed it most likely was much easier to get out the normal. Even a dentist sometimes runs into needing a high speed hand piece and long surgical bur to get the roots out if the tooth breaks or is anatomically not coming out in one piece. They would have had a small disaster if that would have happened.

This has piqued my morbid curiosity! What would've likely happened if they'd broken the tooth and couldn't get the roots out? Could they just abandon the entire attempt and let it heal or would it be an infection risk? I imagine it would be agonisingly painful?

Not a dentist, but I'm guessing there might be exposed nerves inside the tooth that can now be stimulated by anything that comes into contact with it. Would hurt until she got that taken care of. At least, this is what I was told by people who had broken their teeth.

As a dental hygienist myself.. I’m literally disgusted and appalled at the thought.. but that is completely staged. Topical Benzocaine would not be sufficient for a tooth extraction.

Daniel Wnek there’s a reason that was the 1800’s my friend. Alcohol was probably used to get passed out drunk. Dental pain is among the worst pains you can have. There is a significant pop when the tooth is separated from the bone and it takes a lot of force.

My original dentist i reached out to had to wait 2 weeks to schedule an extraction for an abscess tooth and I was in searing pain, i almost thought about this tbh but i was way too paranoid and scared it could go wrong, i just toughed up took pain meds and anti biotics and eventually got a new dentist that prioritized my needs better

Do you see those pliers? Like those arent new, they probably have been used around the house. The sterilization process of most dentistry equipment involves a special machine. She has to be a health risk.
