Completely pointless report if you don't name the company and can't review her contract.

What company did she have when this happened? We all need to know so we can stay away from that company?
@glenna.4503 жыл бұрын
Well even though they won't tell you the name of this company, everyone should check with their own medical alert service to find out what the protocol is if the same situation arises!

The phone number on the phone shows a number for a company called Fluenthome.

Thank you for this information. I did not know there was a difference. I thought if you pushed the button for help, you WOULD get help. Thank God she is alright.

There isn’t supposed to be a difference but some companies have bad policies in place

If she pressed the panic button, its SOP that they dispatched the police because it isn’t a door sensor or motion its pressed by the owner
@snorman1951 Жыл бұрын
And then it turns out to be an accidental button press. Not so good. Anyway it's all in the contract. Pay more to get more. I suspect this system is automated with no operator involved, so the contact (daughter) takes the hit on accidental presses. The system actually worked well, but daughter had her phone turned off and mom forgot to charge her personal device. Let's not be so fast to blame the company.

Next time wake up when the alarm company calls you

It was unprofessional of them to not reply. I understand if they have a policy about when they can/can’t call 911 but it’s extremely unprofessional to ignore that email. They could have easily explained their policy and sent a PDF copy of it

This is the problem when you pay a fortune for basic health care, everyone is too scared to ring an ambulance.

This is why people can't go with a cheap system. Our parents didn't go cheap on us, that's why I chose Life Alert for my parents. When someone needs help and you compare the reviews of Life Alert, I did not see the complaints. I only seen positive reviews of Life Alert and reading the reliability reviews on Life Alert was more than worth it. Life Alert is a company that's been around for over 30 years. A company doesn't stay around for that many year's if they aren't giving a great service. When your loved ones are in trouble, you must have a system that is reliable. I'd like to say when it comes to spending money on someones health and safety on the people you love who have taken care of you, going with a company with a long track record that Life Alert has and as long as they've been in business, you really can't cut corners in this area in life, I'm sorry. Meaning, the type of business that could potentially be saving your loved ones lives. I would NEVER go cheap on my mother or father in this case. People spend more per month at Starbucks, on their cable and cell phones, I think folks need to change their priorities a little. I always say "You get what you pay for". 🤔 Think about it.

So life alert is a scam. They claim that you need their home base unit for their gps button when that is not how their tech works. They use off-the-shelf components and charge an outrageous fee for it. These systems are a bridge to 9-1-1 and in many cases are far slower than just calling yourself. I know, we tested this.

I just asked my pain management doctor yesterday if this one notification alarm my wife bought for me would interfere with my implanted spinal stimulator. The directions were not clear as the normal legal mumble-jumble just talked in circles about radio frequencies that could exist. My brain surgeon told my family that I’m not to be left alone, as I could suffer from a ruptured brain aneurysm and stroke again, as I did in 2012. I am disabled and unable to work ever again. This has presented a problem as my wife’s father is bed ridden, and has an amputated leg, and in his 90’s. Sometimes she has to leave me, and care for him, for days at a time.

The company I just enrolled in calls you through the device. They ask if you need help, so if you accidentally pressed the button or are just testing the system, they’ll know not to call 911. If you’re unconscious and can’t respond, they call for help automatically. The main part that needs to be charged flashes a green light to tell you it’s charged, so you would know that it’s adequately charged or not. The charge is supposed to last 5 hours, for when you leave the house….So what happened to this lady, wouldn’t have happened to me!

In my comment I stated that my device battery lasts 5 hours…..I misspoke……it’s 5 DAYS! Sorry!
