The problem with phrases like that is just that they get overused to things that it shouldn't be, like "the customer is always right". In the proper context it's true. It's just not for egregious things like cheating, abuse, etc. Or for the customer example, not for abusive customers, or somebody who causes more trouble for your business than they're worth. But if it's just over a one day old expired coupon, maybe just take the thing to keep the customer happy and coming back.

Right? I do not expect perfection in a relationship at all -- but I do expect loyalty. In fact, I insist on it. If they want to f*ck around, better leave first. No cake and eating it as well in my home!

It depends on context. I 100% agree when it's used this way, but that phrase is also used as encouragement/support to someone who is feeling bad about themselves or remorseful. In that case I like the sentiment.

I’m honestly not really that insensitive about issues like that but I HATE when women do that - blame a miscarriage on “the stress” of their relationship when there are pregnant women beaten within an inch of their life that still manage to give birth and have healthy babies. Maybe if you’re pregnant you shouldn’t go around bashing up peoples’ cars. She just seemed insincere 🤷‍♂️.
