I saw a recent interview with Glenda Jackson in which she said that she was very afraid of those cattle because of their long horns, and during the whole shooting of that scene, she did it in fear. You'd never know by looking at her dance for them. THAT'S acting!

Only Glenda Jackson could have become the Queen of the Bulls for that scene. My favorite actress!

I haven't seen the movie, but highland cattle are supposedly known to be docile and even friendly to humans, so I'm gonna hope she was scaring them away so they wouldn't become steak. :)

I've seen so many famous people in real life that I don't really register them any differently than as if they were "normal" people. The only star I've ever seen on the street who made me go weak in the knees was Glenda. She is really a goddess.

This is a crazy risky scene and quite honestly, it was idiotic of the actor to accept playing this scene. Yes I know she won an Oscar for this and all, but you must never put your life under risk like this. Even if the cattle were actually considered to be tame and there were people standing beside the camera to rescue her if attacked, she could have sustained some serious injuries if just one of the cows felt threatened. There was no need to have her and the cows in the same frame so Ken was just being foolish.

I don't know if this scene is in the original novel but it doesn't add anything to the film and seems out of place. And the subsequent dialogue between Gerald and Gudrun that immediately follows this clip doesn't help either, especially Gudrun's non sequiturs.
