Andrea Some people don’t like money in the bank because it just sits there. They invest it so they can earn interest or double the money. I think it’s true but for me I also have an irrational fear of bank. If I ever make good enough money I would only leave only what is covered by the FDIC. Invest the rest not necessarily in stocks or real estates which are the go to.

technokokos the us living standard might be high in certain cities, and maybe nobody really gets paid enough in many cities. But our capitalist system has ppl squandering income on things they shouldn’t have to. The problem is income comes and goes and all of these ppl are wage earners. The ppl who should be taxed are capital gains holders.

“I just want to make sure everyone I love is at least ok. Their happiness is my happiness.” This is a beautiful quote. That is a wonderful thing, but a lot of times people think this way, and they end up not properly taking care of themselves. Remember, your family’s happiness is important, but so is yours. Don’t forget that if you aren’t able to respect yourself and care for yourself, how can you do that for someone else? 🤗💖

I guess this is one of those questions where the answer really depends on where you live. $60,000 is a secure amount ($120,000 couple) in some areas. I think $120,000 for a single person would be where I'd stop caring about money as its enough to raise a family on 1 salary. I don't see much advantage in making more than that if it means working more hours and additional stress.

To put this in perspective for anyone not familiar with New York's economy, housing rent alone starts at like $2,000 a month, and that's for some little hole in the wall. So your yearly rent bill is at least $24,000, if not way more.

My husband and I have just reached the place where if we have more money, I don’t think it would make us happier. Maybe a bit more a year, but we are comfortable, I can treat myself, I can buy what I want at most stores, and supermarket. I don’t have my health, I’m literally falling apart. But I don’t ah e to worry about money anymore, it’s a blessing but that’s it. It’s very hard. But i am so grateful I have health care and chances to do things before I go.

ninannoo you mean 50.000 not 5000 because 5000 is too little . And yes in my country for example ( Greece ) which is a first world country , 50.000 is more than enough . New York City however yes it is extremely expensive . For instance an apartment that would be 1000$ rent per month here would be at least 5000$ per month in New York

I don’t know where I stand with money to be perfectly honest. I always feel like there’s a constant need for me to put myself in perspective but I never really felt as though my world revolved around it. If I want something, I’ll get it. If I can’t afford it, then I won’t. It’s not the end of the day because I do find I can be happy without having to spend that much.
