@DFS54 yeh 4x100 would be better with a 400m straight course
@bridge4
@bridge4 4 жыл бұрын
@DFS54 another option I'd love for the 4x100 would be timed slots. Like heat 1, go. Then every country is reseaded along the lanes with leaders in th middle. Go round 2. Etc. So then it gets to the 4th person and it all comes down to that anchor. Can #2 or #3 or #8 make up the game to the leading nation? Ready, set, go! Lol I know this is unrealistic. I guess it's more of a praise to track and field in general. Racing is awesome :)) so the 4x100 is a little chaotic, but many absolutely love it. And I guess I'm still on of those. I just love the 4x400 even more :))

I’m surprised that Baumgart ran the anchor leg for Poland. If it was Swety-Ersitiç it might have been a different outcome. Floria Guei is a beast on anchor leg!!!!! Kudos to the USA, JA and France!

At that time Justyna Święty had a slight injury. The Polish coach wanted to spare her and at the Athletics World Cup in London she started only in the 400 meters. That is why Iga Baumgart had to run the anchor leg. Świety has a very good finish so she is really hard to replace.

@@alialibaba1886 yes very true! Justyna is an amazing anchor leg! I didn't realize she was injured. That makes total sense now. If she was well it would be a no brainer for her to run anchor leg.

@@noelburton8730 Almost no one knew about Święty’s problems at the time. It was kept in secret.🙂 The coach gave Justyna some rest and it was the right decision - the 2018 European Athletics Championships were more important than the Athletics World Cup. The Polish team had a bad experience from 2017. Justyna Święty was in great shape, but she twisted her ankle a couple of weeks before the IAAF World Championships in London. But eventually the Polish coach gave Justyna a chance - she ran the anchor leg for Poland with with an unhealed injury and with the bandage on her leg. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ead_oLqklZ-qiIk.htmlm10s

@@alialibaba1886 Stop with the bullshit. Let me tell you something, I've ran track. And here is the thing about track. YOU NEVER RUN WITH AN INJURY. Why? Because it impedes the healing process for one, and two, obviously you risk greater injury. People have no idea how much pressure/force that runners --- especially sprinters apply on the ground and how that energy is rebounded back to their legs. She was going up against the best runners in the world at that time, and even at her best, Poland ;likely still would not have won, so what since would it make to have her run while injured?

These were B and C team runners. Courtney Okolo was the only A teamer, and she was having a very inconsistent year. Phyllis Francis, Shakima Whimbly, Shamier Little, Ashley Spencer to name a few, were all absent.
