Really appreciated the details on middle-class women's clothing, for some reason most of the resources I find are all either peasant or nobility.

This video is amazing! I'm working on a writing project for my class that takes place in the 12th century and having a visual description of clothing really helped

0:57 women didn't veil because of some weird superstition back then but as a sign of modesty, everything was about relgion back then and in the Bible and church teaching a woman must veil whenever she prays so it would be easier for her to pray throughout the day and when she entered a church or a chapel.

How were the arms and sleeve caps shaped in this era. I am always told a rectangle with gore's to the waist, but for larger busted figures this means the shoulder seam nearly reaches the elbow, obviously wrong and very impractical. Looking at paintings/images of this era don't help much. I know fitted sleeves were beginning to appear but I thought it was at least a century later so any information would be gratefully received. Many thanks, and I enjoyed the video.

Wow, this is how, we Muslims women dress right now in this era. The only difference is the belt on the west. Been, modest never get out fashion what a beautiful and comfortable way to dress and no Evils eyes People, specially men don't have to see your beautiful body figure. I'm so glad that I don't feel shame or naked when I'm out and about.

Muslim sisters should wear this kind of dresses to counter hypocritical Hijab ban in Europe.

@@SpartanSpirit300 What's dressing sense has to do with Science and technology? What Science has to do with Human emotions and psychology? Ooh I know you are furious, It's because your Secular-Godless World Order is crumbling and turning into anarchy and lawlessness.

@@SpartanSpirit300 I will live by it, I won't be forced by you woke freaks. A hundred thousand old wisdoms brought out many discoveries which you call quote unquote Modern Science. Nothing is new under Sun. Experimentation and Reasoning Don't get togather. Greeks gave you mind to reason. Arabs gave you algorithms to calculate and measure. All lived in past, even these concepts of transistor, LED technology are older than you imagine.

Anyone have recommendations on the best place to get medieval clothing (1150-1335 AD) for men (English), women (Iberian) and children that also doesn't look out of place in the modern world? I was thinking that footwear like the following could suit (whilst not necessarily being perfect) Men: Sandals, Espadrilles, Ropes Sandals, Empire Sandals, Leather Thongs, Menorcan Sandals, Gladiator Sandals, Clogs, Monk Strap, Moccasins, Woven Sandals, Suede Loafer, Chukka Boots, Chelsea boots, Plimsolls, Cuban Heel Chelsea Boots, Chukka Desert Boot, Driving Shoes, Women: Strappy Tie-up Sandals, Knotted Suede Toe Post Sandal, Cross Strap flat sandals, Raffia double strap slide sandals, woven leather tie leg sandal, Mules, Clogs, Over the Knee Boots, Ballet Flats, Lace Up Knee High Boots, Stirrup Boots, Slouch Boot, Desert Lace Up Shoes, Cuban heel western Chelsea boot with buckle detail. Likewise, Quilted Clothing (like Quilted Sweatshirt, Quilted Puffer Coat, Quilted Coat) could suffice for Civilian Gambeson.

It's easier for women as a linen chemise and a linen/woollen kirtle (basically a princess cut, flared dress) can be worn on a daily basis and nobody notices the difference. Shoes are quite specific- you need to look for turn shoes (all leather and veg-tan/smoked leather too). Ultimately, it's the accessories (veils, long belts with cutlery/purses etc, hoods) that can make or break the whole look.
