That's the thing about the way BJJ is taught at most schools, self-defense is an afterthought. Everything changes with a striking opponent. Especially if he refuses to put a Gi on before beating me up. :)
@lsudx479
@lsudx479 11 ай бұрын
@@peculiarlittleman5303 It's understandable that you'd need to learn the basics before this though. You can't get to this point if you don't develop the muscle memory and use the majority of the skills shown to then be able to think about being punched. My friend is a purple belt and I've seen him in a street fight when someone tried to jump him. I guarantee you that self defense is no afterthought. I train where he trains - Gracie Humaitá and even the higher white belts know self defense. I'm brand new so I wouldn't have thought of any of these moves either way - going to bjj or not. I'm a black belt in Tae Kwon Do and that only works if you're fighting another Tae Kwon Do person. Even at Tae Kwon Do black belt I still wouldn't have been able to pull these off because I don't yet have the muscle memory programming or thought process that training the repetitive basics opens up.

@@lsudx479 This isn't advanced shit by a long shot. This IS basic defense stuff, and most of it is garbage. Your Tae Kwon Do Black Belt would be better used to strangle someone with.

@@lsudx479 At Gracie University we focus primarily on self defense. These techniques are beginner level and should be practiced from the beginning, you should always default to a punch safe position. Most street fights will involve someone trying to strike you, if you aren't preparing for that then what is the point?

100% I talked the mother of my child into attending BJJ with me, she didn't want to etc... 4 months later she went back to the city she grew up in for your bf's birthday party and an ex-boyfriend was there and attempted to pin her down and assault her in the bed room they were using for a coat room. She walked out without a few bruises and he crawled out with a broken nose after she worked her guard and up kicked him and knocked him out. She said it was easy and felt in total control of the situation and actually decided not to armbar him but to set up the up kick because she was pissed and had on boots.

If you are strong, I know some things you can do to attack the person on top, but you have to be strong. I got sucker tackled once and then instantly mounted and I escaped mount by clawing at the guy's eyes from the bottom. He screamed and hopped off of me and ran. I still have no clue why he assaulted me! In the two fights I've been in as an adult, BJJ would have cut down on the violence, and led to the thug being arrested!

And yet in all of those examples if he was actually trying to hit her instead of just doing the typical non resisting attacker bullshit, he'd pummel her into the ground. I notice you didn't cover what happens when your attacker gets tired of your bullshit and just fucking headbutts you. You go unconscious and wake up to them either having, or having had their way with you. You want to defend yourself? Attack the areas that can't be trained. The spots where there is no strength difference. Ears, eyes, nose, mouth. The only self defense techniques that work are the ones that aren't afraid to maim or cripple an opponent. You also don't need to have your legs wrapped around someone to get slammed. If you let your hooks go, and they're still holding your torso, you can still go for a ride.

@@rodvan-zeller6360 If it's not included here, it may as well not exist. No guarantee people will find previous videos. I did a basic search for it, and while I got some Gracie videos, nothing in the search result was relevant from the title. Should've been covered here, would've extended the video duration by maybe 10 seconds to gloss over it like everything else in the video. That being said, it's not really a defensible technique. None of this shit will work against someone who isn't going easy on you for a video. Like most self defense videos, do it at full speed and with intent, and all the techniques fall apart.

@@daethe Under the adrenal stress of a violent attack fine motor movements and complex motor movements perish, the only thing left are gross motor movements. According to psychology we have 7 types of memory, in this type of training the technics are being stored in a memory file that shuts down under adrenal stress. Take a look at bjj tournaments where the competitors get mad at each other for what ever reason, the forget all about bjj, they get on their feet and start swinging wild punches.

Not to mention...Ladies pay attention to your surroundings!!! Don't go places alone. Have a friend walk to car with you. College girls...stop going to frat parties alone and drinking. Its kinda like the mindset of of i have to carry a gun or have a big dog to protect me you probably shouldn't be where you are. Just a thought. Most situations can be avoided. Dont put yourself in a situation to be a victim.

First off, this is Newaza. The ground fighting and last resort portion of a samurai, jujitsu practioner. It is not, nor has it never been Brazilian. It's Japanese in origin. It has been monopolised to suit the greedy and arrogant graciie family. The most stupid thing you could do in a fight situation is go to the ground. The crap of 90% fights go to the ground that the arrogant gracie family portray is based on police taking suspects to the ground. Not actuall street fighting. Now just Imagine being on your back with multiple opponents in the street. Yeah really smart. Stupidly beyond words.

That is just dreaming, snd deceiving. In a situation like this, maybe a knife can help you, if your foe is determined to end yout life....
