The fact that Sarah moved Tatiana's name next to her warms my heart.

I think that Maise and Natalie are absolutely correct about the heart of what GoT is. The show is about the desire, struggle, and acquisition of power. When Varys asks Tyrion the riddle in season 2, "A richman, a priest, and a king stand with a swordsman in the middle. Each bids that he kill the other two. Who lives and who dies?" Tyrion rightfully answers that the power lies with swordsman. Varys then retorts with, "Power lies, where men believe it does." (Yeah, this is a paraphrase, but the gist is there.) Each reason and attempt at attaining power in GoT is based on something that some might consider wholesome. The Frays made a name for themselves by building a bridge at a strategic point in Westeros. They used the wealth from that bridge to gain power. They used that power to expand their influence. Up to and including the next King in the North being betrothed to the daughter of Lord Fray. So, it was almost justifiable that they reacted the way they did to the betrayal of Robb Stark. The wrong was in the lie. When they offered exoneration and instead broke the ancient "guest right" rules. If they had fought him in open combat, I would almost say they had the better claim to righteousness. So, the story shows that morality doesn't produce power. Honorability can lend itself to obtaining power, as there are a large number of people who want to feel they themselves are honorable. So, they will side with the "good guy" over the one that kills people at dinner. It is also a huge weakness. If you aren't willing to disarm someone and slay them in combat. But instead let them pick their sword back up, you are in a position to be exploited by your enemy. That exploitation can cost you everything. Just like it did Robb and Ned Stark. If Ned hadn't given Cerci a head's up about him finding out the truth of her children's parentage. She would have never known and he could have told Robert before she had the chance to act. She then basically killed Robert, if indirectly so, and I feel she felt bad when Eddard was killed by the very son who was protected by Eddard's honor. So, the point of all this is, the only thing that matters in this world is how you hold your power. How that grasp affects everyone around you and what you're willing to do to get more. It's a very astute observation by Maise at such a young age, I believe. Even if she has been living inside the world of the show for 6 or more years.

How long did it take you to type that? But I agree
@fictionmyth
@fictionmyth 10 жыл бұрын
***** I type 90wpm, so not that long. Not a brag, just an honest answer. It was the only positive thing I gained from all those years of Everquest. It came out before in game voice chat or Teamspeak and Ventrilo. So getting someone to save your ass had to be typed quickly.

The fact that all of these women who kick ass chose male superheros proves that the world needs more female superheroes!
@Loathomar
@Loathomar 10 жыл бұрын
There are really no lack of female superheroes, just a lack of female superheroes movies. After the total flops of Catwoman and Elektra, no movie studio wanted to risk another $100m+ on another female superheroes movie, so we having got a comic book female superheroes movie scene then. Male comic superhero movies, on the other hand, have done very well, so they are thought of as a safe bet, so we get more and more of them. At some point, some studio will take the risk again, and if successful, we will see lots more comic book female superheroes movies but if it flops we will see no more comic book female superheroes movies for another 10 years. Studio are all about the money, if comic book female superheroes movies start making money next time we will see more, but from the last two flops they are still seen as high risk.

Olivia Stalvey I covered that there is no lack of female superheroes, there are loads, several hundred I would guess. There is a lack of female superheros movies, but I explained the reason for the current lack of female superheros movies. But if you think there are not enough female superheroes make them your self, between free software and cheap web hosting it cost next to nothing (but time) to make an online comic, so do something about it.

After watching the new Mockingjay Trailer, it makes more sense why Natalie Dormer was referring to Jennifer Lawrence so much. It also explains her hair cut. Not that it was a bad haircut. It just seemed more reasonable after I realized it was done for a movie.

Truly most insightful and really well said panel of kick ass women that I've seen from SDCC. Just gives that much more credit to the intelligence of these women representing complex and multifaceted women on television and in our media. The future of women in television, based on these remarkable ladies, I would go as far to say, has never been as bright as it is now BECAUSE of these roles, actors and writers.

Fair enough buying movies or cds that generally come out at the same time (unless its an international artist not as well known) but when it's tv shows and you live in Australia and don't get to see them until they air a few months later than the US and have to try and avoid spoilers that whole time, that's a totally different issue. Do people who get the episodes first not understand how frustrating that wait is?

I won't make any assumptions about how you came to your position, but her points are valid. I'm studying to sustain a career as a working musician and the fact of the matter is that a profession in the arts isn't always regarded as such by the general public. Consumers are usually looking for FREE entertainment and sometimes inconsiderate of the costs that go into creating that entertainment.

@16:08:"for you see, I am not actually left handed." Also on Sons of Anarchy: Segal's character, from what little of the show I have seen, seems to have genuinely self-less desire behind what she does. She is also good with the planning. This is why she is not hated... @54:48 Arya is going to become the Count of Monte Cristo or V or she will die in a knife fight.

I came here for nicole, but does it seem like this panel was a tad bit awkward? Like there's not that much chemistry between the panelists chosen? It doesn't make it terrible and there were certainly great lessons to be told but I feel like they could've had more chemisty, but I guess it couldn't be helped.
@caughtinyourquagmire

I thought it went okay considering most of the panelists probably met literally before the panel began. And aside from GOT, most of the shows are pretty niche which means it's like they aren't terribly familiar with each others' roles/shows.

Was this panel early in the day? They all kinda look tired or low on energy. I also wish they had added Gwendoline Christie. She is both a model and an action heroine. Not that the other ladies aren't basically both of those things. It just seemed like it might have been more appropriate for her. I suppose they didn't want to have a whole Game of Thrones panel.
