I remember when Gail Davis, playing Annie Oakley, advertised Wonder Bread. There was even a picture of her on the wrapper.

Also, the old Hostess Twinkie bakery on Clark Avenue in Cleveland (closed in the 1980's) had that tempting smell as well. I will miss Wonder bread and Hostess cakes.

I'm going to miss Wonder Bread. It really was healthy and tasted better than the competitor's bread.

Not to mention the colon problems he'll face from eating so much white, bleached flour. It's funny, because the narrarator said he has to eat veggies, fruits, meats, eggs, milk and bread, but the boy was only shovelling bread into his beak.

Commercial bread bakeries do give off that "fresh-baked" smell that tempts you to go out and buy a loaf. One example today would be the Kroger bakery in downtown Columbus. You can smell that bakery half a mile away.

Same if you're running rabbit ears through one of today's ATSC TV sets, or via an old NTSC set through a converter box. The picture can get pixelated or lost completely with various factors, including your own body movements. And with both the old and new technology, you have to move the rabbit ears with every channel to get a stable picture.

For those of you who grew up with stereo televisions and cable, you have to understand that this was late 40s and early 50s technology. The sound was horrid and the signal was received with a set of "rabbit ear" antennas. The picture was jumpy whenever an airplane flew over and the audio was of far lower quality than what you have now. Like anything else, we had to "walk before we could run". These were the building blocks on which today's technology was based on.

@JesusSavesAtCitibank Growing up in the '70s and '80s, we couldn't afford a TV with a remote (and had BW well into the '70s). As kids, part of our "job" was to get up and change the channel on demand from Mom.

@JesusSavesAtCitibank I'm thinking that 8 slices of Wonderbread would have made such a pasty goo in one's mouth that they couldn't have eaten anything else.

Damn, those other runners are slow! What, did they all throw the race? The fix was in and his mom paid off the other runners so her boy wouldn't look like such a total loser.
