Thank you for making this video. I am a baseball fan at heart, but I like all sports in general. I appreciate this clip because the athlete is very skilled. The look of joy on his face after the successful squat was priceless.

Almost like the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles when Canada's Jackie Barrett Squatted 611 lbs. He also needed 5 spotters. Hyeongrak Kim came close at 606 lbs. in Berlin.

Wonho Kang, Hyeongrak Kim, and Jackie Barrett (retired) are three of the best Squatters in Special Olympics World Games history, and all of them have great techniques.

@@Grox44 Officially, Special Olympics International doesn't have World Records due to concerns that some athletes will take shortcuts and win at all costs. Here are some of the biggest lifts in Special Olympics World Games History among Men's Powerlifters: Squat - 277.5 KGs, Jackie Barrett (Canada) Bench Press - 155 KGs, Brady Tanner (USA) Deadlift - 297.5 KGs, Jackie Barrett (Canada) Triple Combination - 697.5 KGs, Jackie Barrett (Canada) Pound for pound, the greatest lifter in Special Olympics World Games history was Andy Leonard from USA as he Deadlifted 440 lbs. but he weighed just over 110 lbs.

Korea's Hyeongrak Kim Squatted 606 lbs., just 5 lbs. away from tying the Special Olympics World Games Squat record holder, Jackie Barrett from Canada. Keep in mind that Jackie Barrett was 41 years old when he Squatted 612 lbs. at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles, which was also the Newfoundland and Labrador mainstream record in his weight class.

The key to Korea's success in Special Olympics Powerlifting are not just their "best of the best" national team selection process based on national games/championships results, but also body part specialization where they put a lot of focus on lower body exercises. In fact, Wonho did Squat training 3-4 times per week. Keep in mind that when Jackie "The Newfoundland Moose" Barrett (Canada) Squatted nearly 612 lbs. at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles, while he trained up to three hours a day and 3-4 times a week, sometimes in Western Newfoundland's famous severe winter weather conditions, he only did Squat training once a week but did moderately heavy worksets and a lot of supplementary routines.

In Powerlifting training, that can be dangerous to specialize on one discipline and body part three or four times a week. Usually, in Powerlifting training, you do Squat and lower body exercises one day, Bench Press and upper body routines two days later, and then Deadlift and a mix of upper and lower body supplementary exercises each week in order to stay well balanced. For example, when Jackie Barrett trained for the 2015 Special Olympics World Games, he trained three or four days a week, one day for Squats and lower body, one day for Bench Press and upper body, and one day for Deadlift and upper/lower body, and he still Squatted 611 lbs. However, each lifter has their own routine. If focusing on leg work and Squats works for Wonho Kang, its the main thing.

@@user-ll6yl8rp1o Lifters like Wonho Kang and Hyeongrak Kim likely idolized Special Olympics Powerlifting legends like Jackie Barrett, a former Special Olympics Powerlifter from Canada with Autism and one of the strongest Squatters in Special Olympics World Games history. Jackie was so strong that he Squatted 612 lbs. at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles at 41 years of age, also a Newfoundland and Labrador Men's Master-1 Super Heavyweight Squat Equipped Record at the time. Wonho and Hyeongrak almost reminds me of Jackie with the big roars after making large Deadlifts.
