wa22 used as preamp vs pass labs xp12 preamp, both paired with pass labs x350.8 and wilson audio sabrina speakers.
wa22 has sophia princess 274b rectifier and cetron 7236 power tubes.
I feel that this tube preamp with acoustical music and with voices is really good.

Great video! As a preamp, how does WA22 works with a very busy and complex music like an orchestra?

It's fine with vocals, guitar, violin.. but with orchestra or rock music it's good but not perfect. The pass preamp its an all round better preamp

Ho anch’io pre e finale pass 22 (prima avevo il 20) e 250.8 vorrei sapere che cavi alimentazione segnale potenza utilizza.

adesso ho xp22/x350.8 (il 12 l'ho dato in permuta per il 22).. come cavi di segnale uso i furutech FA-αS22 in rame OCC terminati furutech xlr, come cavi di alimentazione per il pre xp22 uso il furutech FP-3TS20 (connettori furutech E28/38) mentre per il finale sto utilizzando un cavo da me realizzato con cavo solid core occ neotech soct12 terminato furutech fi-e11 (in precedenza usavo furutech FP-TCS31). come cavi di potenza uso transparent cable (abbinamento perfetto per le wilson audio)

The first sample was the woo audio, second Pass xp12, right? I used to have a Pass X1 preamp (in conjunction with my still there Pass X600)… In my opinion the Pass pre‘s aren’t bad at all but nowhere as great as their power amps. I replaced my X1 against an Einstein ‚The Tube‘ preamp …and it was so so much better: better dynamics, better clarity and felt speed, just so much more ‚live‘ and musical sounding.

1. yes first wa22 and second part of the video xp12; 2. i owned x1, xp10 and now xp12, x1 has different sound more dry and analitic and pair perfect with older pass amplifier (i owned x250.5) which are more warm ... xp10 was not so great... xp12 it's a wonderful amp with a fuller sound and match perfectly with 350.8 (with x1 the sound was aggressive); 3. i think pass preamp are wonderful when paired with pass amps of the same period.

@@gianmarcogervasi6013 didn’t find X1 aggressive actually. It just lacked - especially in comparison - the amazing clarity, detail and dynamics that my tube preamp delivers in conjunction with the X600 monos. It completely let’s you forget about the gear…it’s only room filling and pure music. That’s what I was always searching for. Take care and have fun on your audiophile journey ✌🏼

Hi I am aiming my radar on that xp 12, but basing on your video I believe woo audio has more of that air extension and bite than xp12. I have a pair of hereys mk4 mated with a pass labs xa25, which do you think of both preamp would match my system. I like that more air extension. But knowing woo audio is half the price of the pass labs xp12. Very nice video very informative. I listen to any type of genre of music. Nice setup btw

both are fine.. but consider that woo audio become really hot... no remote and only one xklr input (the rca input is non that good).. the wa22 needs a retube to give best result (i changed all tubes.. with the stock has a little too hum and don't sound so fine).... i would consider an used pass x1 for you... anyway all these options are fine

Hi there. I'm a huge Sasha daw fan but will be very fortunate if I could just afford sabrina x. I can't believe I'm finding someone actually using a wa22 with the sabrina x and also has experience with pass pre and ARC pre. I have new classe delta stereo amp because with wilson doesn't have much of a sound signature just beautiful black background and awesome imaging. I'd like to add good solid state and and a tube pre for different genres. For tube pre I'm really looking for finesse, emotion, texture and that raw realism tubes can bring. Would you suggest the way with upgraded tubes or an ARC or just go straight for pass

In my opinion pass works really fine with wilson sabrina.. and the best result is the combo pass preamp and pass amp... however i am sure that arc preamp with arc amp should be fine too (i sold my ls26 /vs 115 before buying the wilsons)... (i haven't listened yet the new classe delta.. it should be very god)

Hi, Thanks for video. Nice setup! How do you like XP12 ? I'm looking preamp for my Plinius SA103 power amp( Speakers Harbeth SHL5+XD). I'm looking for full sound preamp with more body/weight rather than analytical. My DAC is Chord TT2. Would you think it will work for me ? I can't demo one... Thanks..

i don't know how will be xp12 paired with the plinius amp (very good amp!!) probably i would try a plinius preamp.. what preamp are you using now ?

@@gianmarcogervasi6013 I consider the XP-12 for my X350.8 too :) I watched your videos and the Pass Preamp seemed to have better synergy than the other SS/tube preamps. I currently have Moon 390 as the preamp but I don't really happy with the Moon because it is more on the analytical side. Thank you.
