Some arrived solo, some arrived with siblings, but once in our care all of the Wood Ducklings became a close (and very cute) family! Each spent over a month at the Centre growing and learning important life skills. They are still growing in their flight feathers but our avian care team found a safe pond with adult Wood Ducks and other Wood Ducklings. As a species that is known to 'adopt' young, it was time for these cuties to grow their family once again. The adult ducks in the pond watched closely as the release boxes opened and they quickly called out 'Come over here, you are welcome!'. The smaller ones went one way and the larger ones swam further into the pond, each flock welcomed by their new mom. What a very fuzzy and heartwarming sight to see!
