Hm, I've never seen Karate trained on a wooden dummy, I like it! This looks like an original design, I like the applications, seem pretty straightforward and practical. Good stuff.
@NeverAReflection11 жыл бұрын
I would be very interested to see how this dummy was built--the arm looks as though it can be moved in all directions and will re-center itself.

This is good advice for what it looks like he is trying to do. however, if you have enough forward momentum when you have a low stance a rising heal can mean more reach just as long as you put it back.

Haisai It"s nice to see how you make the Jodan age uke , not with the ulna (as usual) but the Isshinryu way with both ulna and Radius so with the muscle.This is the way we do in isshinryu it's less painfull. yours in Okinawa karate. ps nice makiwara DO-MU-GEN

Sir The Uechi Ryu dojo in Naha City, Okinawa Ken, Japan where I trained used the 巻藁(まきわら) or Makiwara striking board and did not use a wooden dummy. Osu.

Uechi Ryu is probably based off the training regiment of wing chun. Since the Okinawans have influence mainly from China than Japan.

It is futile to argue as to which leaf, which design of branch, or which attractive flower you like; when you understand the root, you understand all it's blossoming", - Bruce Lee. I belive as Martial Artists, it is our responsibility to try to see the similarity's, rather than the differences; it's our example to the world that we are all related. Peace!

u have good moves. the only thing wrong with ur "form" is ur back heel rises when u use ur reverse punch in bow stance. the back foot must be flat to deliver all the power from ur kinetic linkage. get ur energy from the earth.

I respect this man's power, but I question the method. He's parrying striking an outstretched arm. That would be a gift in a fight. Maybe this man is aware of that and is just focusing on a particular strike. I personally prefer boxing.
@Drigger955 жыл бұрын
they tense their body during training and train to take an immense amount of damage to their body so they can get in close and finish the opponent in one strike. Look up senchin breathing and conditioning.

From my research, uechi studied wingchun in southern China; though this very slow and crude techniques.If this an example of what he taught, he must have been at a low level of proficiency when left the system. This is a very basic and unskilled example of wooden dummy usage.I guess you would have to be a dummy to train in this system, because you are going to get burned in the streets using it.

1) It is not because one uses a wooden dummy that it is wing chun. Wing chun doesn’t have the monopoly on that training tool. 2) it is not because the techniques vaguely resemble Wing Chun that it is WC, or that it tries to be. Maybe it has some common principles, but then again we are all humans and there are only so many ways one can hurt someone else. 3) it is not because the techniques aren’t exactly performed as in Wing Chun that it doesn’t work. Many systems have many methods, which are or aren’t similar to one another. Ultimately, all (or at least most) of these methods can work if trained correctly.
