Welcome to my KZfaq channel, where I'm excited to share my expertise in electronic music production. Join me as I dive into the creation process of 'iunua,' a track crafted using Ableton with a minimalistic approach. This piece is featured on the "Glyphs Wood" compilation, released on my own label, QEONE.
Listen to the full track and explore the entire "GLYPHS : WOOD" VA at qeone.bandcamp.com/album/glyp...
The compilation showcases a curated selection of talented artists who have contributed their unique sounds. The concept of the release is wood and each artist interpreted this in their own way.
Subscribe to my channel for more in-depth tutorials, tips, and tricks on electronic music production. Let's embark on this exciting journey together!

The stereo effect is often lost when tracks are being played in clubs or other parties for multiple reasons. 1. many people who frequent techno events often prefer to dance right against the bass bins (yes most of the people I know that I know wear hearing protection.) so if they are right in front the left stack they arent experiencing the stereo effects. 2. at clubs that dont exclusively cater to the techno, dnb, dub, trance crowd they often have satalite speakers located throughout the club. The installation of these speakers are often an afterthought and they rarely are summed to be mono, and with music that has elements that werent checked for mono compatibility often ends up just not playing out of half the speakers in the club. and 3. Often large soundsystems set up for techno are setup in mono specifically so that the first reason isnt an issue. Im sure you check for mono compatibility when it comes to your tracks, but regardless if you check, if you are expecting that stereo image to be a build a sense of energy or tension when played in a club dont couunt on that. I definately have bought tracks thinking that the stereo image created in tracks was awesome, and then hear that not be present in the club, and its a massive letdown.
@polygonia8301
@polygonia8301 8 ай бұрын
Yes you are right, but because of that it makes sense to always prepare the tracks with mono compatibility but also don't miss out on stereo because there are definitely also occasions in which the listening situation is another one like online mixes or regular streaming on home speakers or headphones. And then mono sounds pretty one dimensional to me. I think both has to be considered and therefore I prefer to produce so that it suits both situations perfectly :)

really fantastic. I've been listening to alot of Amapiano, and finding alot of what you would expect to be 4 on the floor kicks is sonically being taken up by the wooden percussion sounds and usually a really deep sub bass. Your point on using alot of modulation is a really important key point here - if you want things to sound "organic" you need to create alot of movement. One thing I like to do is use the Ableton Erosion module, and modulate that which creates some interesting noise and tonal changes over time that works especially well with drums.

Id like to give a tipp on your automation drawing at ~ 13:50. I would use the shaper lfo thing because you can automate the offset, jitter, depth and stuff. I know it is pure shit and its fucking frustrating that it doesnt have vertical grid but anyways i llike to use it on fileposition too on granulator. also you can draw in random shit, then map the phase to macro and press random until you like the sound (ofc add other effects with lfo's and also map them to macros to randomise all at once). I feel like that is a cheat code to happy accidents because you dont have to take so much time to turn all the knobs individually.
@polygonia8301
@polygonia8301 Жыл бұрын
Yes I know that one, it’s handy sometimes. I actually love to also vary my curves at some spots for example and for that purpose it‘s a bit more easy to do it like I did. That could also be achievable by using various shapers and turning them on and off. But sometimes I feel more flexible when I draw that in the automation curve section directly. It depends a bit on what you want to achieve in the end. :) thanks for your fruitful comment, I am sure some producers here appreciate your tip 🌸

@polygonia8301 It might sound a bit weird but I love watery sounds and bubbly sounds, have been on a quest for a while trying to learn how to make them... The watery sounds you create are among the best I have heard. I am really looking forward to that video! - thank you so much.

spannend! organic sound indeed. Does the session view have any place in your production workflow? i tend to start there, and end in the arranger. Although i prefer Bitwig nowadays, since it has vertical scenes :) Grüße aus München

Yes Bitwig is amazing. Going to look into that later this year as well. :) I use the session view mainly for my live sets. Since I am always arranging from the beginning on to speed up my production process, I tend to always use the arrangement view. I think the session view is great for exploring and building some nice loops. But as I do so much with automation curves right from the start, I definitely prefer the arrangement view for my work flow.

Ooooh this is awesome! I noticed you do limiter on hihat & shaker tracks. I'm very curious why 😊
@polygonia8301
@polygonia8301 3 ай бұрын
As I want to avoid any harsh peaks which will be problematic in the mastering afterwards. I use limiters only in that way that the clipping is not hearable and the unwanted peaks are still cut. Of course I don't want the signal to be undynamic, but I also don't want it to be too dynamic. It always depends a bit on the usecase. Sometimes it can be a nice choice of style to use a heavy limiter as well.

Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge...... Massive fan :) I was wondering what your thoughts are on reverb? As I saw very little reverb implemented in your project. Are you recording your sounds with any reverb etc? Or do you keep reverb to a minimum to get a cleaner mix? Any insight would be amazing. Also super keen to hear your thoughts harmony and rhythm. Thanks for the beautiful music and helping us out. 🥰

Hello dear :) Thanks so much for your fruitful comment! Yes indeed, I keep reverb at a minimum and only use it there where I really want to have it as an accent. I think it adds too much mud/noise and makes things less 'readable' for the listener, so yeah it's actually really bad for the mix if it's more wet than dry. In my work I want to use reverb to create a space, but that can be done by a very small amount of wet signal. Reverb also destroys transients - I want my percs and drums to punch to make people really dance and feel the beat. With loads of reverb on them, it looses the groove very fast. I can also record a video in which I speak about that and show some examples in my tracks. I have some ideas how I could also experiment with it to show what I mean :) And about harmony and rhythm, yes it's actually my plan to show producers who don't have knowledge of those topics some basic stuff to improve their game. Thanks for popping by and for listening to my music, it means a lot 🥰
