I've run the Woodland Mills WC68 for 6 years and without so much as a hiccup, it's time to see how things have changed in the wood chipper world. In comes the new twin-flywheel TF810 Pro PTO Wood Chipper by Woodland Mills. I'll be assembling and trying out this new technology for the first time today. Looking forward to seeing how this eats the sawmill slab wood!

Hey Sandy, The new chipper looks like great piece of kit! I have a WC 68 the same as you & I've found that if you keep an eye on the chips coming out & they start to slow down when feeding it, I have a weed blower handy to put down the chute which stirs the stuck chips up & away you go...... It seems Woodland Mills have fixed that with the twin flywheel. 😃👍

I am assembling my new wc88 today. I looked hard at the 810, but I thought it looked like too many moving parts to me. I don't remember ever seeing anything bad about the 88, and it seems like a proven design. I might be wrong, but I think I'm going to be very happy with the 88. I do wish the infeed chute sloped down into the chipper wheel like the 810, but other than that, I like what I'm seeing with the construction of the 88.

My goodness, would you check out that beast! I'm impressed! My experience with wood chippers is they get jammed up with sticks because the opening is too narrow or the chips don't shoot out far enough so they get bound up in the chipper. Hi Sandy, on my last trip to WM showroom I saw the new twin flywheel and I was very upset. As an owner of a wc88 that I bought less than a year ago, that I bought thinking go big or go home (it runs on the back of a 75 HP tractor) then they came out with this, yes i did ask they wouldn't take the wc 88 on trade! That's ok, I actually don't do crazy amounts of chipping and my WC88 is still an awesome machine. With the Emerald Ash Borer killing all my trees I am frequently feeding whole dead 6" ash trees into it and they are quickly converted to trail bedding.

I opted for the DK2 unit that has DOT approved tires that can be towed over the road up to 40 MPH and does up to 6 inch sticks. I tow it behind my John Deere Gator 6x4 so I can load other tools in the bed of the Gator when chipping.

Nice piece of equipment. It doesn't surprise me though as Woodland Mills seems to really care about what it produces. I think a possible add-on for this would be for Woodland Mills to have a way to adjust the chute direction remotely from the where the wood is fed into it even if just a control linkage like a snowblower has....should not be too hard to do and could be a possible accessory that could be purchased. Maybe you could mention this to Woodland if you agree.

Hey, Sandy. Love your channel. I always learn something new. I was wondering how fine the output of the chipper is. Whether it would produce fine enough chips to feed into a wood pellet mill to make pellets for a pellet stove. I have a sawmill and plan to use the sawdust to make wood pellets, but, of course, I also have lots of flitches and other trimmings I'd like to be able to feed into the pellet mill. Don't t know whether you can shed light on this, but thought I'd ask. Best of luck to you with your new "toy."

Hey Ken! I actually have some other surprises coming right up you'll have to tune in for. I don't think things will ever stop haha. To be fair though, this wood chipper was given to me

What provides the down force to the infeed roller...I couldn't tell if it is a spring or a pressure cylinder of some type.
@sawingwithsandy
@sawingwithsandy 2 ай бұрын
Good question. it's the two shocks you can see on either side of the infeed

That was impressive, about how long was actual setup?

Good question. It took me a few hours to unbox and fully assemble I'd say. Maybe 2-3 hours in total

Anyone run one on a smaller tractor? I’ve got a Mahindra 1640 which is rated like 28hp at the pto and was wondering if it’ll handle this chipper as long as I’m running primarily smaller pine and such. Wanna get this model in case I ever go bigger but wanna make sure my tractor will run it

"A" I don't read Canadian you know . But are all the words upside down cuz you're at the top of the continent . Them flat earthers man they don't get it do they . If you can see the world upside down from a sphere angle I guess the words would be upside down😂. Canada were beavers go to Central America to get relaxation because them boys have got their wood chippers out and how the beaver going to damn up a river with sawdust. Canada don't pee in the woods you might get a wood chipper

I haven’t chipped leaves specifically but I believe it’s more for chipping brush with some wood instead of straight leaves
