Best sawing operation and working sawmill how to video on the internet. Retired 30 years with a state Forestry Commission for what it's worth.

Good video. Nice to see a video produced mostly in "real time" to get a feel for production capability and milling situations that may come up.

I know it's another "offshore" piece of equipment, but this is a fine sawmill. Very stable head. It also gives a lot of user feedback. You just "know" when to adjust the blade tension and it takes very little effort to feed into the logs. I hope Woodland Mills can maintain tight control over the manufacturing in the years to come, but for now, this is the best bang-for-buck sawmill I can find. The design changes from a few years ago were good ones. Thanks for the vid and time it takes to interface with us wood noobs.

Great video and very informative! How long do these logs need to dry after being cut down before milling?
@woodlandmills
@woodlandmills 6 жыл бұрын
You can mill your logs right after you cut them down. You would then stack and sticker your lumber to air dry or kiln dry.

How do you know how hard you can push the saw head into the wood?

Why is there no stainless plate on the last runner yet they are on the extensions? wouldn't that throw off the surface height?
@woodlandmills
@woodlandmills 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Josh - The last log bunk gets moved to the end of the track when you add a track extension. Therefore, that bunk never supports a log, regardless of how many tracks you add.

On some other videos I've watched on your mills there are two levers that are pushed down to lock the head, has this been eliminated now?
@woodlandmills
@woodlandmills 7 жыл бұрын
The 2017 models no longer have the locking levers. The need for these has been eliminated with our latest design.

what is the lubercant for the mill
@woodlandmills
@woodlandmills 6 жыл бұрын
Hi Scott, In the lube tank, we recommend a 1/4 cup of dish soap to one tank of water. You can use windshield washer fluid in the winter, with a ¼ cup of dish soap. If you are milling a really sappy log, you can increase the dish soap. This will help keep the pitch off of your blade and keep it cool while cutting.
