You don't need to remove the guard for the fan to work. Mine worked on top of the guard just fine.

Thanks for your great video. I also use my fan on top of the guard, and it takes under 5 minutes for the fan to start turning. It does a really good job of pushing heat out to the shop, I was actually very pleasantly surprised. When I checked the instructions for the fan, then measured the heat coming off the top of the kerosene heater, it seemed to me that the heater surface was actually too hot for the fan parameters (at least the one I purchased). The temp on top of the guard was considerably lower, but the fan still operates like a darn. This combo has been a good heating compromise for my working area, although I would still love to know how to extinguish the heater without it throwing off smoke and fumes. 🇨🇦

Thank you, I'm not sure about extinguishing the flame without smoke, mine smokes alittle every time. Glad you enjoyed it though

I’ve heard a lot of people (and manuals) recommend starting it up and shutting it off outside to avoid the smoke/smell. Not sure there’s anything you can really do about it unfortunately

@heyb6268 that makes sense as when both starting up and shutting it off there is a noticeable smell

I use two 5 blade wood stove fans on ours and they distribute the heat great.

You should have started the kerosine heater first and then after it's been heating for a minute or two, then you can put the fan on it.

Does it make a big difference having the fan?

Comparing to what I remember from last winter, I'd have to say it does, I feel it heated up my garage alot quicker. It pushes the heat up and out.

What material that fan is made of ? would it melt if I but it directly on the heater's roof surface ?
@motoalley
@motoalley Жыл бұрын
It's made of a metal material so it won't melt unless the heater reaches a super high temp
@Reman1975

These are made of 2 aluminium heatsinks. The bottom one soaks up heat, and the top dissipates it, but sandwiched between is a funky little device called a Thermoelectric Cooler (or "TEC"). It's a crazy square of a ceramic like material that converts a temperature difference between it's surfaces into a small (But still usable) amount of electricity. They use that to run a motor/fan that cools the heat dissipating side as it's also moving air in the room. The TEC is a bizarre piece of technology that would have been seen as science fiction by most people even as recently as a decade ago, but surprisingly, it's been around in one form or another for almost half a century !

I have read you can, but it would likely produce more smell. I've yet to try it but I have been thinking about it.
