For those of us born in the 1970s, this was always a song we whistled or hummed. Also feel things like this are the real reason KZfaq exists.

Given the South Park reference to Woodsy, I can't help but laugh at this. XD

This commercial stayed with me since it first came out. That's why Saturday cartoons are sorely missed. I learned a lot from commercials like these

Back when I was a kid I used to make prank phone calls and sing this jingle to random people before caller ID...ahhh, those were the days 😆😂🤣😅

I don't know why they stopped showing Woodsy PSAs on TV. Children are never too young to learn what pollution is and why it's bad.

Those were the days when people cared more than they do now.

David Letterman once had a Top Ten List that was "Top Ten Results of Government Cutbacks on Public Service Announcements." By far the funniest was, "An out of work and starving Woodsy the Owl begins preying on household pets." Cracks me up to this day, but don't worry, I loved Woodsy as a kid.

We need to bring Woodsy the owl 🦉 back to teach all of the people I see who will be right next to a trash can and throw their trash on the ground, especially disposable masks.

Thank you James Sundquist! This commercial and the lyrics always stuck in my head as a kid/ and even now. I noticed in my old hometown people chuck all kinds of garbage out their car windows, etc. Shame on them! I wish the schools and TV would pick up this ad campaign again. GIVE A HOOT DON'T POLLUTE! You rock James... 30 something years later whenever I see trash I think of this song & I even find myself getting out there and picking up trash. I think it stems from the 70's teaching kids about the beauty of nature & keeping Mother Earth clean. They really should be teaching kids about this again. :)

I was 4 years old when this commercial aired. :( Long lines at the gas pump, JImmy Carter was president( 1977 - 1981) at the time.

Because a lot of kids have never heard of Woodsy Owl outside of South Park. I count myself among them. Born in 1985, I had no clue who Woodsy Owl was until the South Park episode entitled "Insheeption."

I can't really tell but it sure does look like the base structure from what it used to be the twin towers and that same park right along the Hudson that I used to love going there to ride my bike so many years ago.
