#sponsored Thanks to Krazy Glue for sponsoring this video. For your own projects, Krazy Glue Wood Glue will be available in the craft section of Walmart or online at Amazon! www.amazon.com/Krazy-Glue-206...
Here’s how I make a spherical wooden box from start to finish. This box features an ebony handle, and a secret ebony finial on the inside! ! I'll be making the body of the box from local Bradford Pear wood. I'll show how I plan out the box and create templates, and how I use these templates to cut the piece accurately. I'll also show what you can do if you accidentally mismatch the inside and outside of the box. I'll show how you can quickly and easily use Krazy Glue fast drying wood glue to attach the finials. Thanks for watching!

I have viewed a few of your videos Ashley over a period of time but never used to be able to find many. I love the strength of some of your videos & then there are the more delicate ones. The fine craftsmanship of your finial work is a joy to behold. I am not a woodturner but a disabled, retired Senior Master of Art teaching in South Australia so my viewing of the many woodturning videos that I watch, is from the 'Eye of the Artist'. Your work shows your considerable artistic talents & I will be watching your videos as I come across them. Lovely project here & lovely skills. Cheers, Don.

When you got done, I was dying to see the lid in a view where I could see both the inside finial and the outside finial! I bet that looks like it is all one piece causing the mind to wonder how it could constrict going through the small hole and be bigger on both the inside and the out. Of course, we see how you did it but that view must be amazing! This is a very aesthetic piece. Thank you for showing us your process!

Thank you so much, Ashley for another great video. I particularly liked your use of the large negative rake scraper. It's my best friend for taking out bumps and hollows on the inside of bowls - that's of course if I keep it super sharp and use a featherlight touch. What can I say about your finials? You are the number one in making them and have been for years.
@MrKikoboy
@MrKikoboy 4 жыл бұрын
A "negative rake scraper" is just a curved skew - the edge will never hold up as long as a regular ( burr edge ) scraper - you can learn the same touch on that and achieve cleaner results ( especially if it is canted at 45.....) but people seem to be too impatient to develop technique....

The proportions are excellent and the lines all work together, crafty recovery from the miscalculation, l think some of those recoveries are what puts the "fun" in turning, (that is, when we can get away with them) Excellent work. Looking forward to seeing more, all the best.

Thank You for doing this work for us. I had to laugh when the shot of pulling your notes out from number a mound of wood chips came up. It always seem that when I need to check something on a drawing or notes I have to move a small mountain of chips. What magic is it that draws them there?

That spherical box is awesome! Walnut oil? Interesting! I've used brazilian rosewood oil on a cool project - finishing a 5 by 8 ft table built from 2x12 redwood salvaged from the floor of a bull barn from a dairy farm that was started in the 1920s. So may oils, finishes, stains - interesting and fun stuff to work with! Again - fun to watch your videos - especially with that super cute smile and talented hands! Great stuff!
