The black was a great choice. The vibrant Lego disappearing into the black as quickly as it does in some places and slowly in others is memorizing. I could look at that piece for hours. Love it!! ❤😊

I'm recuperating from drastic back surgery (L2-L6 spinal decompression and spinal fusion) and, although it's slow going and I have a pretty long road to recovery, I'm finally starting to feel a bit better but I have to wear an EM field spinal stimulation backbrace (something about the EM field drawing my natural stem cells to the affected area to help fuse the donor bone implants to my natural vertebrae bone). I have to sit still and wear it for 2 hours everyday so, as you can imagine, it gets pretty boring. Nick, your channel and a couple others are really helping me through my recovery. It takes my mind off the pain and boredom so thank you.

@@GalacticGoddess46 Thank you. Had l2-l4 done, 1 & 1/2 yrs ago. Not fusion but stenosis and koflex clips. Didn't work. The bad thing about it is, most people only have 5 lumbar. 1/150 (mostly tall ppl) have 6. I'm 6'5" so, lucky me. 2 ruptured discs, 3 severely herniated discs, spinal stenosis, severe arthritis. All leading to spinal curvature. It is working out this time. Doc said 6 mos. - 1 yr. til total recovery. Already feeling better tho. The dang spinal stimulation back brace is a pain tho. 2 hrs a day, sitting bored for another 5 months. Did you have to wear that?
@GalacticGoddess46
@GalacticGoddess46 8 күн бұрын
@timisme8360 no I had not even heard of that brace until reading your comment! I now also have a spinal cord stimulator and it is one that needs charging every 2 days. Takes 1.5 to 2 hours each time and yeah I can't move around while it's doing it. That's annoying enough, having it be a brace would be even more uncomfortable. A year is pretty much standard for full recovery, but you will feel pretty much recovered much sooner. I know a guy who 18 months after his fusion ran a marathon, so I'm hoping you get a great recovery!

Popping & banging because the pressure pot made pressurized bubbles trapped in not-yet cured resin. Why don't you use a vacuum chamber, just briefly, to get out some of the air before using the pressure pot? My kids & I love your channel, Nick. I hope you're making videos for a long time to come. Be well.

I always think that when someone uses something like Lego, since it would be easy for there to be air trapped inside the bricks.

@@JMcMillen You almost have to fill the underside voids in each piece, let the resin cure to at least green, THEN put them all in your bigger mold and fill the rest of the space.

Looks great Nick👍 . Thank you. Multi layered coloured resin pours. Helpful hint for the community 😊 - mix your colour into just part A (resin), obviously it will be a bit more translucent when you add part B so do a small test, and add more colour to part A if needed. Your colour will then be an exact match when adding further layers. The coloured part A will also keep if you need to get the exact same colour again for a seperate project in future. Also, when mixing, add part B (hardener) and then part A (resin). Part B is thinner than part A and doesn't stick to the side of your mixing cup as much.

The colors and patterns on that are absolutely stunning! Black was definitely the color to use. Such a powerful piece. I wouldn't second guess the shape the vase the lines and colors are so intricate it really needed a strong and simple shape to let them shine.

With all the cavities in the Legos, I think it would have gone slightly better if you filled the mold in sections so you could use something to stir them around in the resin and release the air. This does increase the risk of them floating up but if you pour the next layer of legos on top, hopefully they will help hold the rest down. That said, this project turned out better than I expected. Great job as usual!

Vacuum chamber should pull the air pockets and fill all the voids in the bricks with resin. No need to stir...just pour and pump (although you could still pour in stages if you like.)

My suggestion might be time-consuming, but the effect would be amazing. Prefill the Lego pieces, then do the main pour. Filling the pieces first can result in a better finish while turning the piece. In-depth details: 1. Spread Lego upside down to fill the interior of each piece. 2. Use a syringe to fill each Lego piece with UV epoxy. Use different colors for different batches. Blacklight reactive and glow in the dark epoxy would look awesome. Use a vacuum chamber or pressure pot to remove bubbles. Then cure the pieces with UV. 3. Mix the pieces to the desired mold shape, then do the main resin pour. 4. Finish the piece to your hearts content. If you made it this far, then the end project should be something you want to see.
