Rubber Chucky makes replacement seals that fit this system. They work better than the stock seals and leave no marks.

Hi, Carl. I wanted to let you know that your video helped make the decision about which vacuum chuck setup to go with. I went through your friends at Chefware Kits and could be more thrilled with the performance thus far. The only thing I did different was I went with a vacuum pump that did not require a compressor. Thanks for helping me decide which direction to go. Really appreciated this video!

I don't own a vacuum chuck yet, but one tip would be to use the largest vacuum chuck which fits the piece you're working on - the holding strength is based on the area you're holding (pounds per square inch for example) so you want the holding area to be as large as possible.

Carl, apart from natural edge and small items, I find it easier to use a large home made platter style chuck (around 16"). You gain a great deal more surface area and pressure it required. the platter is covered in funky foam which helps compensate for any uneven edges. cheers Tom

For anyone who orders this system and has the Laguna Revo 18/36, know you will need to purchase a longer length of lamp tube and cut to length. It works great on that lathe with that modification. It comes with a 18' tube and the Revo needs 19-20"

Hi Carl, I have the older model venturi from hold fast (V810R), but I was never able to get it to work that well. I think the problem may have been that I was using one of those little AC 2.5 CFM air compressor pumps. I am trying to decide whether to stick with the venturi I have or invest in a frugal vacuum pump. Here's my question - when you have it hooked up to your air compressor, how often does your air compressor turn on when you're using it, to keep the pressure up? Also relevant, what PSI do you keep your air compressor at and how big is yours. I have a 10 gallon compressor and I don't think I'd like it if it was turning on every five minutes that I used the vacuum chuck. Thanks for all your great videos!

ok as I was watching the last part of you video. should you always keep the(am I saying that right manhiemers stepped in ) tail stock on to trim down the inside and do the back side . or is that just how you do it . as you know im still learning stuff as I watch your awesome video's

As always, another great video. Question for you...would the 8" suction cup typically work alright for pieces up to 16" in diameter? I don't do many pieces that size but the vacuum chuck would give me that option as my Cole jaws max out at 10" and I'm not particularly good with jam chucks. THANKS...

Hi Carl Thanks for sharing. Just a question, what pressure is you compressor set too and does this venturi vacuum generator make your compressor run continuously while working? I suppose it depends on the size of the generator so maybe that information would also help.

carl how would you mount the piece back to the vacuum chuck if you didn't have a foot on the bottom to aligned with the vacuum chuck for it to run true,,,

I watched your videos on the hold fast vacuum system. I then purchased the system. When I set it up, I can only get 6” Hg. My husky compressor has 3.7 CFM at 90 psi so that should not be the problem. I have tried a couple of different hoses to know avail. Do you have any suggestions for how to get up to the minimum 12” Hg? When I watched your video, you could tug pretty hard when the system was running. It’s not hard for me to pull a platter off at 6” Hg. Any insight would be appreciated. I thought I would reach out to you before returning the system.

I enjoy learning from your videos. What size compressor is the minimum to handle vacuum chucking? I have a small sears pancake one, is that not enough pressure?

Does the vacuum continuously pull or does it shut off when it's reached optimum working pressure? I've only got a small compressor which doesn't like having to run for too long and I'm worried I'd burn it out with the Holdfast.

Very helpful Carl, but do you know how much air pressure you have? I can't seem to get mine to hold as well as yours. Any tips for a better hold?

I just bought a used holdfast v810 r works great but I am loosing a lot of vacuum at the seal what is the minimum vacuum you can use to hold a bowl it runs between 10 and 15 lbs with the hose off it pulls 23 to 25 lbs thanks for any help

If you purchase the Robust adapter for use on a Robust Lathe will that work just using the Hold Fast chucks on the head stock spindle along with a vacuum pump?
