In this video I unbox and setup a new easy-core coring system by Oneway. This is not intended to be an instructional video but rather an unedited look at the thought process and steps I took to get from unboxing to cutting cores. In this video I also show the reference points that I used to make positioning templates. This is not a tool review and I purchased the system, however, it is really quite easy to use once you figure out some starting points. I hope you enjoy the video, thank you to all who watch!

I got a new, bigger lathe, and a new Oneway Base and bigger cutters to go with it. Because I installed the first base so long ago, I watched this a second time before setting up the new one. I had forgotten how clear and succinct this video is. Thank you!

I found your site while looking for the Easy-Core Coring System. I enjoyed your video but really liked seeing your Canadian flag being displayed on your lathe! It's great to see people showing their pride with their country! I'm an American 21 year Air force Veteran and I have a USA flag proudly displayed as well.

One of the advantages of this coring system is that you can bring up the tail center for additional support which an accessory extension is available for.

Thank you very much for your presentation. My lathe is a Onwway 1640. Thus I just bought for the time being the 9 and 11 1/2 knive sets. I may buy the number 3 once I control the tool. I chose the carbide tip but may later on get a korpro. Great explanation, it halped me a lot in setting my system

great review but suggest one thing at "2:00" in the video. You use your finger to show where the pillar needs to be positioned (towards the headstock) but you say, that the "pointed side should point out" and I am sure you meant "in" as that would be in the direction of the headstock. Minor issue but you could make a small adjustment. Thank you for making the video!!

Great coring system. Easy to use. I understand Hunter makes a carbide bit for that. You may want to check into that possibility. I believe that’s what Jim Sprague uses.

Nice review video. Not sure if anyone has mentioned in the comments but Hunter tools makes a carbide cutter for this system, spendy, but again as you say worth the expense. It really works very well - and much better if you are going to core something with resin.

Thank you for watching! Butternut dries without cracking usually so I’ve got these on the shelf an I will keep an eye on them. If they start to crack I will put some sealer on them. Thanks for watching!

The smaller 2 are on a shelf in the shop and the larger one is being kept out of the heat. It will take quite a long time for them to dry, likely 8 months. I will certainly be videoing them being turned. Thanks for watching!

You did a most excellent presentation. Question please! Why do you not take your green wood to a drying kiln? I live in Portland Oregon and we have two amazing walk in service kiln dryers. The one owner operator holds a Masters degree in kiln/wood science. I have not used them yet but we are taking a dead Paper Bark Birch down this Sunday. Some of the Birch we will plank out and my friend Elizabeth who is a certified arborist will decide what we keep as rounds. I am just curious about that with green wood. Thank You Much!

Turning a recess in the face of the master blank and turning the largest bowl first enables you to turn a foot on every cored bowl

More about the horse power and torque than swing if that is what is holding you back. My lathe is 2HP and any less would be a struggle. Thanks for watching Joseph!

Very cool video. I appreciate you telling us the price of both the cutters and your selling prices. Puts things in perspective. Do you follow Ronald Kanne on KZfaq at all? You wanna sell some blanks? Never tried butternut before and as far as I know it’s not in Pennsylvania. Also. Have you tried any of the hamshire dyes yet? I just bought a kit from woodworks in Texas to play a little.
